Default gas mileage on stock std

Just wondering what you guys are pulling for gas mileage on your std HATCHES nowadays?

I'm only getting about 250 to a tank with majority of it city driving. Its a 11.9 gallon tank? So i'm putting down about 21mpg?? wtf

My b16 would pull 27 - 29. Guess its time for a tune up?? OR do i have the tank size incorrect?

No it isn't.

To calculate your fuel mileage, you don't go by the size of the tank.

1. Fill the tank to the top.
2. Reset your trip odometer.
3. Drive.
4. Fill your tank to the top again and note how many gallons you pumped (the pump will tell you).
5. Note how many miles you drove on the trip odometer.
6. Divide the mileage by the number of gallons pumped to determine average miles-per-gallon for the mileage driven.

A STD should easily manage 40mpg.

Something is not right. I get around 30-32 mpg from my b16a and around 350 before I need to fill up again. This is a combination of city and highway driving. My mpg also depends on if I am using vtec or just cruising.

Either way though, 250 to a tank is garbage, isn't it?

Yes 250 per tank is garbage...give it a tuneup and you should see the mileage improve.

I didnt know if it was just not as good because of the longer gears and less power compared to my crx?

Thats why i was wondering what other guys with STDs were getting.

Yea, the STD is a gas mileage monster

And the good thing is that even after my MPFI swap, mileage didn't even change

std gets good mpg even with only 4 gears..You be on the highway doing like 70 and the motor is straining and makin noise and you still get good gas..Imagine if you put in a hf tranny.. Anyone ever do that>??

You may also change the place where you fill up. Sometimes, shitty gas will burn up way to fast.

But on a side note, i own a 2002 civic with stick and i get about 500 km per tank which is about 320 miles doing both highway and city driving.

How can you tell unless you know the size of the tank? Does the STD have the same 10.6 gallon tank as the CRX HF, or does it have the samer 11.9 gallon tank as the DX/Si?

It doesn't matter how many miles you get from a "tank," because not eveyone has the same tank, nor is everyone's fuel gauge calibrated the same, nor are you running the tank bone dry every single time. What matters is the mileage per gallon. MPG is the standard unit of meaurement for fuel economy in the US, and completely ignores the size of the tank for proper comparison purposes.

Anyway, try a tune-up and check timing. Do you have any CELs? How many gallons do you normally pump when filling (fuel gauge could be off like mine is)? As I said, the STD should be able to average over 40mpg easily.
