Can you get koni shocks with clicks?
Just curious,
say you're having your shocks rebuilt/revalved,
can they change the adjusters so that you get clicks when adjusting,
instead of just the smooth turn?
This was a bit of the "off the top of my head" question, don't know how serious it is,
but I am curious, as it is easier to tune your shocks with said clicks..

Depending on the model and contruction, probably 90% of Konis do not have a clicking adjuster because there is no need to be in specific positions for the valving to work. A few mono-tube Koni dampers or compression adjusters on double adjustable models have 4-12 specific clicks to show that you are aligned to a specific setting. We do not have a system and have found no need to add clicks to most of the shocks.
With the non-clicking models (mostly twin-tubes and some mono-tubes), any position at all is a working valving so you have a much greater number of potential positions (infinite) thus have more tuning range. Just use the stop at the minimum or maximum settings and turn it any number of complete or fractional turns and then set the other side at the same setting and they are matched. This gives you greatly more options than a shock with 4, 5 or even 30 settings plus the actual adjustment range of forces built is much wider than most other dampers on the market. Having specific click positions is a limitation of your choices for settings.
A well known BMW tuner adjusts their Konis to the 1/16th of a turn if you want to get really specific although most people may use increments of 1/8 or 1/4 turns. Without the clicks, you can fine tune as much as you want in between what might otherwise be specific clicks.

I find it just as easy, if not easier, to adjust the Koni "analog dial" than to adjust using clicks. With the Koni you don't have to sit there and count clicks as you go - and I'm sure that gets annoying with some of the JDM y0! coilovers that have 900 clicks that do nothing. With the Koni, you just count the number of turns (and there are only 2.5 turns from stop to stop). The triangle design on the adjuster **** makes it easy to set it where you want it.
this is all true,
but honestly no one really "needs" infinite adjustment,
20 and up would be more than enough.
yeah i've had agx's in the past, and having 4clicks was stupid.
but if I had like 12 or something that would be fine.
I think my MAIN gripe is that you really can't tell where the shocks are set currently,
without resetting them(turning it to full then backing it off however much you need).
So say I've got my shocks set somewhere I like, and have had them set that way
for quite some time. i'm not going to remember what the exact position is..
so if I want to just add alittle, makes it confusing when you are thinking about what to do with them.
Now none of this is really a big deal at all really..
just things could be easier I think.

clicks don't determine how much adjustment there is, AGX's could have 50 clicks or 4 clicks it WOULDN'T change your adjustment range.
The way i do it on my car is i set them to were i want then if i feel i need more or less, i simply make 1/2 turn or 1/4 turn from were they were, becuase they were in the same spot previously. now Jay told me to always start from stiffest and work back, i dunno why but he said it best to do it like that.

I know clicks dont determine the adjustment range, never said that.
the agx's 4clicks sucked, cuz sometimes i'd want alittle bit imbetween 3 & 4,
or 2&3.. but nope.. you only get 4choices!
I dont see why anyone would need more than 20 honestly..
thnx for the tip about working back from the top though..

Well, it'd be the same way if you had a click adjuster that wasn't labeled though, like many of the JDM y0! coilovers with 900 settings (unlike the AGX with only 4 settings and a label). If you didn't write down where you set it, and eventually forgot the setting, you'd have to reset it and count the number of clicks as you went.

hmm yeah thats a good point.
I guess cuz konis have more than one full turn in them,
you can't really label them even if you wanted.
cuz heck, I could just put some markings there and it'd be better than clicks!
