Just bought a nice little red dx hatch that is 100% stock

Super clean and all OEM, non molested - which is what I was looking for.. The car was very well maintained and runs perfect. The engine feels underpowered compared to my previous car (modded VR6), but it's nothing that bothers me in the least as I used to own a diesel VW and didnt mind being pokey.

The only thing this car needs at this point, is a nice set of sticky tires to replace the worn, bald mis-matched tires that are on there now. Are there any reccomended tires and sizes for the original 13" wheels that will give good turn-in and good cornering? I dont want to upgrade to 14" wheels as I want to keep the car as OEM as possible.

the only tires i've found so far are Kumho 758's on Ebay in various 13" sizes, but I cant find any reviews of these tires online. Would the sidewalls on a set of 185/70/13 tires be too tall and affect performance? It seems the tires would be very tall

 

Well, i have the 758s and they are ok. But you gotta be aware, you won't find a 13" "performance tire"
And you won't find them on a low profile either. I have beat my car a lot and these tires have proven very well to tell you the truth. Full throttle sweepers at 60 mph and they still hold up good

 

what size did you get (width and sidewall size)?

I think you are right as far as pure performance tire it will be hard to find...however im not really looking for pure performance, looks like the 758 will fit the bill - cheap too, at 140$ shipped for a full set of brand new tires.

 

honestly i would look into buying a used set of 14" steelies with hubcaps or some 14" crx wheels or something. That size will give you a better variety of tires to choose from (including azenis) and still look "oem" because the si came with 14" steelies w/hubcaps etc.

 

I cant even find 13" spinner caps...... Thats how lame 13's are...

If u want the stock look, see if you can track down the ellusive 14" HX rims. At least they will be functional.

oh come on.... autozone or kragen has got to have that

i would rock the stock steelies mabye painted silver and get michilen(?) there the best tire and give u the most life IMO.

 

hx wheels are the shizzle! nuff said.

 

My buddy's got a set of 14" steelies and hubcaps from a DX, which im going to go with since its got a full set of Goodyear tires and they are 185/65/14

Will see how much better the car feels then on crappy bald 13's
