How to clean a SS header?
My friend is giving me his custom Inline Racing (very good local shop) 4-1 header with 2.5" collector since he's going turbo the car is currently in pieces. Who know taking apart cars would be so much fun? Anyway A while back one of my other drunk *** friends ******* spit on it while it was hot and not instea of being a sexy bronze/blue it has a nasty "stain" on it. Do I just sand it down with fine paper or what?
I doubt you'll have to sand it down.
Try some good degreaser on it while it's cool, or get that metal cleaning wool made by mothers (autoparts store). The pipe on my motorcycle was all yellow and stained from rain and stuff and that metal cleaning wool left it like new.

Just buy some DEI header wrap on egay and wrap them.. reduces underhood temps dramatically and you won't see the stains..

There is a DIY on here about polishing a SS header. Do a search for polishing headers, and somewhere there is a DIY. Awesome write-up and the guy had his header looking brand new at the end.

I followed Akuma's method exactly as he had posted, and my old header looked like it was brand new, never used. I cleaned up the header while it was still on the car, so it was a little more difficult, but the results were amazing.
