holding down CF hoods with just hoodpins? no hood latch. does it work?
i was wondering if i could just hold down a VIS CF hood with just hoodpins and without the hoodlatch. i got into a small accident and then it isnt working. i was wondering if i could hold down the hood with 2 sparco hoodpins. i think im going to take a chain and then chain my hood to the frame of my car too. Probably going to bring the chain through the loop where the hood latch goes to. i say Good luck to those people trying to pop my hood
but will it be able to hold without the hood latch and just 2 hood pins?
can i just drill a hole without a dremel and just a regular drill?

i know of 2 people that have done this...one kid had a ef 'n' the other has a jetta...i believe they both broke there latches so they just rocked wit the pins...the one with the jetta says it comes up a lil but he hasent tried to bring the rod down...so yes it will work...i dont know if i would recommend doing it...but thats up to u..........................
Definately shouldn't be a problem. Weight reduction yO!
Edit: Use a glass/tile bit if you're going to drill into the hood. Be a good idea to drill through tape also.

Damn, I never thought about a glass bit for my buddies hood...we went so slow on that thing. But yes, he is running 2 pins w/o a latch...hasn't had a single problem in the past 6-7 months.

Why? If you install them properly, pins work great.

I wouldn't worry...the only car I've ever been in that had the hood fly up was a 89 prelude that was bone stock, inside and out.
