Default Would I benefit from ATS Final Drive in this setup?

I plan on getting some Jun 3 cams, because they are a better drag cam, and that is what I do, (drag race). Would I benefit from an ATS Final drive with these, or will I spin through gears a lot on my launch?

ur missing the point of what ATS FD does, it helps shorten gearing for you so that you can get to and keep in your powerband faster, which is great for tracking. but i dont think not as good for drag.

For your setup up , you seem need the ATS 1-3-4-5 close gear set instead of the ATS 4.929 FD.

if one were to get the whole ATS tranny setup, then wouldnt it be a little extreme for the street?

Extreme alright. The gears are so short.

No. The ATS FD doesn't shorten the tranny gearing at all. It doesn't keep you in the powerband anymore than a stock FD. It will NOT change the RPM drop at all.

Provides more leverage against the wheels. Your RPM will be higher compared to stock at the same speed. The tanny input shaft, main shaft and counter shaft gears rotate at the same speed as now, but, the final drive/diff spin at a faster rate which will increase your acceleration.

That's a basic def.

Would I benefit from having this in a drag race? Or will it just cause more wheelspin than I want?

With real slicks, I think it'd work well. But I'm not a drag racing so I can't answer that with experience.

My say would be depend on how much power your car have, what kind of tire are you using, and how good of a driver you are.

Some people said before that they have slower time because of the wheel spin at 1st, and have to shift into 4th just before the finish line.

I have the old version ATS 1-2-3-4-5. I love it and I don't think it really affect driving much.City driving , I stay on 5th but maybe a bit loud during highway. Extreme ? It only depends how much of the "feel" you want out from your car.
I am a bit hardcore , but the driving feel is an issue to me cuz if my car makes me fed up to drive , I will sell it and get something more interesting. That's why ppl like me like to make the car more fun to drive

also.....the ats would prolly fit you application better b/c i've heard its like a turbo.....low end is comparable to stock (which would prevent less spin out while launching....no?) then BOOO-YA!

Its nothing like a turbo, it accelerates 10% better no matter what RPM your at, or what gear your in.

comparing a turbo to a ATS 4.9 FD, is not a good representation at all, it feels nothing like a turbo.

Vegeta, .....he's talking about the jun3 setup with the ats fd. Yes the jun 3 vtec crossover is like a small turbo on a b18c5... And the final would definitely help you out before crossover, where the jun3's are lacking. Try it! If you're even remotely serious, then you'll be running slicks anyway for dragging.
