how to replace the head gasket on 1991 hatch
any online tutorials about this? i need to replace mine and want to do it myself. thanks. i searched and found one topic about it and it didnt have any links to tutorials.
Well if it is so obvious why not just do it? I personally like having the manual in front of me while doing work on my car rather than having to run back and forth between my comp and the garage. But that is just personal opinion. http://www.hybridgarage.com has the 88 manual from europe in pdf form
Take off header, take off intake, take off valve cover, take off top of timing belt (marking position of sprockets).
Unbolt head, lift up a little bit and hold with a chain.
Take off old gasket, scrape off garbage and make sure both surfaces are flat.
Prepare and put on new gasket.
Put head back on and torque. Make sure sprockets are in same place and slide timing belt back on. Put valve cover on.
Put header and intake back on.
Drive around for a little while.
Take off valve cover and retorque, replace valve cover.
That's it
