Are you supposed to check it when the car is on or while the car is off ??????

so you just check it while the car is off or do you have to drive it around and then turn it off i heard this be4 but not sure ????

if i check it while is off it shows nothing if i drive it around and check it it shows full lol

check it when its on. NOT when its off. used to have to do this every day where i worked.

check with engine off, engine cold, when your car warms up the fluid expands that's y it seems like your tranny is overfilled when it's warm.

Check the auto tranny fluid by way of dipstick while the engine is running PERIOD.

No offence but if you dont know the answer to this question you shouldnt be around cars.

you guys are ALL retarded. Honda AUTOS are DIFFERENT from all other autos.


At operating temperature, turn OFF the car and check trans fluid within a few minutes. Let the fluid settle, obviously for 10-20 seconds after shut off.

Add accordingly

your WRONG...

Check it when the car is OFF while the engine is still HOT... get the car to normal operating temp, turn the car off, make sure your on level ground and check the fluid level... that is the way to check it... for other brands of cars it will be different.

this is per my repair manual...

I did not know that. Ive always checked cars tranny fluid while running. I assumed that went for all auto trannies.

I'd just call your honda dealer and ask them how. That way you KNOW what is the right way.

All cars you check the fluid while the car is running... EXCEPT a Honda. that is the only car that has the be check with the car OFF!

****.. didnt know it, i check my old Mitsu, VW, Nissan, Suzuki etcetcetc while engine is off.
I was assuming its the same with Honda..*knocks head*
