Default just baught my first honda.. Need help

as the topic says, i just got my first honda today, after being a Vw head for a few years. I purchased a 94 civic hatchback Vx. I know this is pretty much one of the worst motors to get, but its all i could work with. I was wondering if there is anything i could do besides intake/exhaust. down the road i am going to swap out the motor, once i blow it up. is Nitrous the only option for this car untill the swap? help me out thanx

Exactly. It's economy VTEC.

basically he's saying your motor is a piece of **** and can't do anything to make it fast.

there's cheap sohc motors that are 1.5 vtec (d15b) and 1.6vtec (d16z6, d16y8) and have a more power than your current motor. but the best way to make power out of a sohc motor is to boost it otherwise get a b series motor. seaching is your friend.

It's not the worst motor (CX/DX/LX being the worst), but it's down there.
A mini-me wouldn't work because your compression would be too low.
Here's a link if you want to read up on it:

If I were you, I wouldn't do anything drastic if you're planning on swapping in a new motor. If you do want to modify something, get parts that can be used for either motor, like: MSD ignition, N20, etc...

Or you could start on suspension: gas shocks, stiffer springs, sway bars, tie bars, control arms, camber kits, the good stuff.

You best bet is to buy a civic ex/si tranny. The vx has extremely long gears and the ex/si tranny will help out alot. I wouldn't waste too much money on it if you are planning a swap. Here's my vx swap wiring instructions. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=644434

b16 = torqueless wonder, there are many other options.

don't even try to squeeze any power out of the stock motor, as you will be throwing your money away.

Nobody said turbo?

Turbo gets my vote... put a turbo on this engine and then when it blows swap in a built d16z6... cheaper than a b16/18 swap and more powerful, plus you can have some fun with the engine that is in there and the parts will swap right over to the new d16...

There's a guy on here that has a turbo VX and loves it, I can't remember his screen name but it's the only VX turbo I've seen and it's got a ton of miles on it and running strong...
