Sort of anyways, it is coming back stronger than ever soon and should be seeing about 275-285crank hp.
Anyways here is the final run of it back on the 30th of December.

Yeah fortunately it didn't have a BOOM episode. I babied it home, parked it for the next 4 days as Honda was closed for the New Year. Drove it down, about half way it just died.

OIL STARVATION!!!
The rod bearings are like paper thin. If you go K series, make sure to pick up a baffled oilpan. I procrastinated doing so knowing that I should pick one up. In the end, the car is coming back a hell of a lot better. Honda is covering the crankshaft and rods under warranty. I bought new pistons and rings (stock) as I didn't like the looks of the originals.

Yeah that is a good thing, I mean it is a Type R and was being used somewhat for what it was designed for. All the Japanese guys that were there with me that day all work for Honda as mechanics.
I don't think Honda of America would of covered this under warranty, they might, but I just think they will call it abuse.
for a non-racing spirit that floats around Honda of America.

Prototype Racing. Ron (Edo) from IPS had Joe order a new pan and install his baffle/trap door system. Everything was just sent out today so hopefully Saturday or Monday it arrives and I can start getting the engine all back together.
I'll take some pics of the pan once it hits my hands.
Yeah most definitely I have to buy them something, not sure if they really drink or not.

Why not higher c/r forged pistons and forged rods? I don't like the looks of the stock rods either.....

FYI: the WCHC Honda Challenge racers have long complained that the stock rods were one on the weaker parts in the K motor

Believe me I so wanted to, just don't have the funds at this time. Buying the cams, K-Pro was about $2000, the oil pan another $350, had to buy a laptop to use with the K-Pro and I bought some other things, the headgasket for $150, the radiator $550, it all added up so quickly and Honda is paying for the rods and crankshaft. The stock pistons and rings were $275 for the whole set. My compression is already going to be about 11.9:1, plenty for a daily driver. I will not be exceeding 8500rpms anyway, the stock rods start to see stress at around 9000rpms.
Maybe in the future I will build up the bottom end, IPS will have a race oriented valvetrain and a better flowing IM is on the market (the stock IM doesn't make any power above 8800) so no reason to rev that high anyways.

You're not the only one. When I left the pit area and I heard it, I was like OH ****, but figured I would do the run anyways, had to somewhat get my moneys worth. Was only able to get in 4 runs.
May is another outing with the Honda mechanics and the car should be a hell of alot better.
