kyb agx/h&r race. rough.
I've had some H&R race springs in the car for some time now. Well, last nite i put in some agx's to update from the old shitty stock ones.
I got up this morning and went to get my alignment done first thing.
Now, what I have noticed is that the ride is noisy and rough as hell. I was expecting a decently rough ride (agx's are set on "3" front and rear right now) but not to the extent that it is.
When I hit a bump in the road, whether its a pothole, manhole cover, or just a road imperfection, the car sounds like its bottoming out. Big clunks from the rear of the car and it sounds like my dash is going to fall apart.
Any ideas on why this is? Are the nasty interior rattles just a common thing in these cars (89 crx si)?

the ride is worse with the agx vs. stock struts? hmmm....is it at least more responsive and glued down to the road?
you've gotta expect a shitty ride with a 2.5"+ drop. squeaks and rattles happen.

My 2 cents. I have kyb agx's and coilovers and the ride was a bit rough at first but after a few weeks it seemed to get better. It is still rougher than I would like but it is much better than coilovers on stock shocks.
I have neuspeed race springs, kyb agx struts set on 4, and full urethane bushing kit. The car rides nice and stiff, but not unbearable, did you cut and re use your bumpstops? Good luck finding the problem
Bumpstops are cut and re-used.
Car handles great, no complaints there. On most roads its fine, the usual squeaks and creaks, but nothing unbearable.
Now, I notice the problem when I am driving slower down really rough roads or gravel driveways and such. When im moving, the front suspension sounds like its knocking every time i hit a bump. A very hollow sound, sorta like they are chattering. I had this same problem with the stock shocks in there as I do with the KYB's. hmmmmm. Thanks for your input guys, really appreciated.
PS, 1 more thing, with the kyb's, the front end sits about 1/2 - 3/4" higher than it did before. This cause the stock shocks were toast?

you might want to check the white bushing that is in the steering rack. That seems to be a common problem for the "klunking" sound from the front end. Hope this helps

hahahahah so true. Real "Race cars" do not do well on the street my friend. Comfort is not what they are designed for. Infact, its almost as if they're made NOT to be comfortable. they are the anti-confort.

dial them down, i cruz daily with the front and backs set at 1(stock like) if i think im going to need the higher rates i turn it up 3 front 4 back it only takes a couple of sec. but i'm an old man. and the noise is more than likly your bushings as said before. it is a 15ish year old car.
