97-01 Prelude Cluster in EF **Proof of Concept Phase**
I'm pretty excited about this, so I may be posting a bit premature, but this may be my only opportunity to give something back to H-T after taking so, so much.
After realizing that I'd need to rewire my dash just to put the cluster from my 90 parts car into my 89 CRX, i decided to just go all out and do something creative. NOTE -- I think somebody on here has done this before, but I couldnt' find verification or pictures.
Anyway, I like my MPH, so anything JDM was out. I don't care much about the redline (my VAFCII is my tach, and my rev limiter is set at 9600 rpm), but I wanted the tach to be the same size as the speedo... revs > mph, in true "racing" fashion. So that ruled out EK clusters, and pretty much all accord clusters. And GSR clusters never seem, to me at least, to fit quite right under a CRX gauge cluster hood. The fuel/temp gauges stick out too far. So then I saw a picture of the 97-01 prelude cluster, and liked it enough to plunk down some change for one.
And today, it arrived. I was a little bit leary about taking a 35,000 rpm dremel to a pretty expensive cluster, but the results set my heart at ease. after about an hour and a half of trimming the hood and the gauges, everything looks like it should fit:

Ultimately it'll move up a tad bit to get the bottoms of the gauges lined up right, but I think this picture proves that it's a pretty good fit.
I'm gonna try to finish this all up within a week. I'll keep you all posted on the finished fit, wiring, and converting my b16 tranny to an electronic VSS.

Same here! I may do this over the gsr!

that is HOT! Let us know the wiring hassles if any, I think I may attempt this, of course only after you succeed
Hey don;t forget to FULLY document it, since you are still in the infant stage of the swap!

that looks soo good if you get it working fine please do a full write up i'd love that mod myself
dang...i was on ebay and these clusters are more than double the price of the gsr's
.
It def looks like a better fit though!

not many cars produce power past 8500 allmotor or FI'd and if you do produce power by the time you hit 8500rpm and notice/look its already time to shift from hitting a 9k rpm rev limit.
i prefer DC2 or EM1 cluster
*like steronz personally i would like to have 150mph 8.5k rpm and even sized more rounded cluster features then stock.
