Is there a proper way to roll fenders?????
My friend basically gave me a set of 16x9 jdm guiiles...These are way too wide for my 2004 ep3..Can anyone suggest the best way to roll the fenders out..I have done the baseball bat thing before but I need a more extreme roll..

not to be a bad guy, but u probably wouldn't want to roll ur fenders ..
in my experience, if u roll ur fenders, you may crack the paint that's on the fenders, although this may not be a concern for u in the short run, in the long run, the cracked paint and exposed metal will cause the fender to rust and you'll have a hard time tackling that problem..
I did it to my 94 Legend a few yrs ago and deeply regret it because now the side that I tried to roll is has rusted and the rust is spreading.. I didnt' bother w/ the other side and its perfectly fine today, no rust at all..
Looking good right now, may not be totally worth rust and headaches in the future..

eastwood sells those. But you have to be mighty carful (i hear anyways) or the paint will crack. Some have even used heat guns to make the paint 'flexable' then roll the fenders. Anyone else got any imput here?

there was a thread in the type r forum a while back of a guy who used the tool pictured. he said there was not paint cracking. i have used the good ol' baseball bat method with bad results as mentioned.
you should heat the paint before you roll to prevent the chance of cracking the paint.
i kno alot of 240 guys who do it to clear wheels

my friend has one of those fender rollers at his shop.....no paint cracking. i didnt give 2 ***** about my civic and used a wooden baseball bat and cracked the paint....its getting painted once i get some 10 second pass's on it so i wasnt too worried about it. that tool is where its at though.
We always use a heatgun before rolling the fenders so the paint does not crack. You can get that tool off of Yahoo Japan auctions really cheap.
I rolled my fenders with a pipe. Sure I got some cracked paint and what not but I painted it again with a spray can of the same color. (No one sees the inner lip anyway so it didnt have to be as perfect as my outside paint.) After 2 years no rust or any problems. Just make sure you seal the metal that was exposed from the rolling process w/ paint. Its not that big a deal.
I do it this way. the lip is just a piece of thin metal. take a pair of metal tin snips, cut the lip in about 4 places(equal) length apart. take a pair of pliers or metel tongs, and fold up. just my way. not perfect. never had paint crack.
i think Dropspeed on here did a write up on it... i dont remember tho, my friend just bought his old car with rolled rear fenders and they are hold up great
You can rent one for $75 from http://www.fenderroller.com/, and they even say on the site to use a heat gun, should work just fine, I plan on renting one with my roommate, split the cost.

Cheaper to take it to a shop to get rolled.

That and you have to pay them a $475 deposit, so $550 up front and then they refund you after the return. A lot of money to have floating out there.

And if there is any paint damage they are responsible for the damage.

I've also used the baseball bat method many times with no problems. I use a wooden bat...jack up the car, insert bat on top of tire at angle, lower car carefully onto bat, roll slowly, has worked like a charm for me. The trick is, that if any paint comes of, sand the area and paint right away (this will be inside the fender so it cannot be seen, this is just to keep it from starting to rust) One car, my 90 Integra 4 dr was rolled like this back in 93...12 years later no probs at all.
