Default should my gas mileage be this low?

i drive a 96 accord lx sedan that has about 106k on it. today i figured my gas mileage to be 23.55 mpg. this is kind of shitty, and i am wondering if this drop is to be expected of an older car, or is there something wrong? little of my driving is highway driving, but i usually try to shift between 2800 and 3300, so i would think i should get better mileage than what im getting. any input is appreciated.

if you end up driving most of your miles before the car is up to operating temp like i do (short trips to and from school, work, store, etc) your gas milege will suck

quit complaining, i get about 12-14 mpg city, and 20 on the highway with my h22...

but for refrence, the new hybrid accord v6 averages 25 city, so i think you are doing A OK for having an all gasoline motor...

i will concede. i guess i am not getting awful mileage, but i dont understand how you think it means anything to compare my car to a new hybrid v6.

well its quite a drop..i used to get around 420 miles out of a tank running it dry during the summer not running any AC...with AC i would get around 380 when i was NA. I fill my tank up right when the light comes on i dont run it dry anymore cause i dont wanna burn out my walbro pump.

most of you who say you get like 250-280 a tank...do you guys run it all the way almost down to E or what? i run it to no less than a quarter of a tank and then i fill up...depending on how i mash on teh gas when it comes to driving on the highway and passing and ****....i get about 240-260? i think

97 Accord 4dr F22B2 This is a mix of city and highway driving:
before turbo: 28 mpg
after turbo: 21 mpg

Most mileage on a full tank of 93 octane:
before turbo: 426 miles
after turbo: 338 miles

I fill up on 93 octane and run till my needle stays on or t 1-2mm below E mark, then when I gas up, takes about 13-14 gallons

13-14 gallons, ouch. its bad to fill up lower than a quarter of a tank, cause then after a quarter of a tank you start sucking in all that nasty **** into your engine and stuff...

that's why you should do it all the time. Doesn't get enough time to get all nasty. I run my accord until the damn gas light comes on. Not before unless I have a good long trip. I just got 430 miles out of my tank. put 16.4 gallons in. Intake, Header and pulley's.
