Default ahhh what should i do, looking just for opinions or some faith

heres my situation guys... i have a b16 in my 90 crx... i love the car to death but it just isnt fast enough.. right now I need to replace the timing belt, waterpump and the clutch... considering i'm paying my mechanic to do the work i'm looking at around 700-800 dollars probably... its making my head run in circles cause i dont want to drop that much money to NOT go any faster.. i just want to rip the b16 out, sell it, and slap a d series in it... i feel like why be quick, might as well be slow if its not fast.. i'm even thinking d series turbo but then i have my dad ranting about how its going to blow without thousands internally.. bah life.... just want ideas not flames... anyone else ever think like this?

think this way dont fix it won't move at all.

gotta maintian and upgrade if your lucky can combind them. If you would feel better get a greddy timing belt a Aftermarket clutch and fly.

this stuff reall isnt all that difficualt to do.even if you want a fresh start you could buy another b16 long block from hmotors and drop it in with 30k on it.then sell your current b16 and pretty much break even.and then just change the clutch with the motor out.just an idea.

No.

Regular maintenance is a part of owning any vehicle. You'd still have to replace the timing belt, water pump, and clutch regardless of whether you had a B-series or a D-series.

Sometimes it's just that way - you have to spend your money on more important things than going faster in a straight line. Deal with it and move on.

Right...if you do this deffinately don't need to change the timing belt or water pump because it supposedly has 30k. How do you break even?
He'd still be in the same situation and would have a B that would have potential unknown variable/costs.

thatbluecrx, a lot of people say you can run under 12 psi safely on stock internals. no experience, but i have heard that from a lot of people.
If you are thinking of doing it - do it, sell the B series to fund the D. people are practically giving away d series motos (not quite, but they are cheap), but you are still going to have the same costs with taking it somewhere to do the swap...especially if you don't know how to do a timing belt and water pump. I would suggest getting a Helm's manual and do it yourself...save mucho dinero. Good luck with whatever you decide.

its a good idea to change the timing belt and water pump. most people do.if his motor is tired and a little worn out he cfould replace it with a fresh start.its easier to change all of these parts with the motor out of the car.i personally wouldnt do this.all i did was change my timing belt in when i droped my old b16 in favor for the new one.then he could sell the old b16 long block for $300-400

Buy a lightweight flywheel and performance clutch, replace timing belt/water pump. You'll probably spend around $800 if you diy

nope. When it was time for me to replace those items i didn't mind spending the money. Got a ctr crankpulley when i did the timing belt. Bought an act hd/ss clutch and lightweight flywheel when i did the clutch. I made the best out of the situation.

just do the work yourself.. doing the clutch is probably the most difficult which really isnt difficult just time consuming. THeres plenty of help and info on here... With the money you save by doing it yourself you can start saving for a turbo

$700 is not unreasonable for a T-belt job and a clutch job together.

Depends, I would charge under $500 for that job.

you arn't alone. Everytime my CRX leaves me stranded i think about just selling it.

I kinda hate working on it just because i don't have alot of tools, i have to walk to the auto parts place, and i don't have a covered work area. On top of that everytime i work on my car it starts raining. IN NEW MEXICO!!!! WTF

either way then i read on here how to fix my problem (except my current one) and i get over it then love driving my quick little CRX all over again till next week when something else goes bad.
