Default Hi. Im the fresh meat around here.

Hello all. Im new to the honda forums. im a vw gear head myself so im not absent minded about tuning cars. I bought a 1998 Accord EX, V6 fully loaded. Nice car. I know i want to upgrade the brakes and get some nice rubber and maybe some nice bbs's. the questions i have is, is the v6 limited to performance upgrades?
Im clueless where to look to be honest. If i do go the route of more performance what are reliable companys to go with? Are there street legal turbo kits/supercharger kits? Any quiks i should know about the accords such as recalls?
Im really in the dark on this. Any help would be greatly needed. My really isnt a problem since i make a nice amount of money due to being in Iraq with the army And if you asked your self "Why would you buy a car you cant drive in Iraq?".. Well it was just a great deal and my mom can use it before i get back. thanks again guys!

Well due to the fact you've got an automatic and those have been known to go out over time I don't know that I would want to add any more performace to the car. There are certain model years that had tranny problems though I can't remember which one's exactly but I know they are 6th gen automatic accords.

Yeah with any first year after the redesign you will have some problems but it shouldn't be too bad as they are still good cars. Brembo seems to make good brakes and I like Toyo Tires a lot and would highly reccomend them.

Yea the auto trannies are a bitch on those, but if you really want, Comptech makes some expensive YET INCREDIBLY good performance products...superchargers, exhausts, headers, etc.

exactly....i havent heard of anyone else making alot of true performance parts for the 6th gen v6s....simply put, the tranny can only take so much, even with a high effeciency cooler......there are a number of decent suspension upgrades available for your car, and since its 5x114.3, pretty much any wheel is available...comptech headers + the superchargers + a catback will make quiet a bit of power, but wether or not the tranny will hold if yuou beat on it, is another thing

How does level 10 help the tranny I have a 99 v6 and I dont want to pay for a new one. Will a shop install the level 10?

Depends on the package you want. If it is just the TC, then yes, If it is all the internals, then just pick up the unit from them or send yours to have it done.

Do you have any idea how hard it is? How well does it work? That's a lot of money but if it works good its definitely worth it.

Level 10 is a tranny/rebuild company. TC is torque converter.

It will cost you, but it comparable to building your block for turbo the right way the first time..... worth every penny.

Otherwise, just get a 5spd car and start from there.

Vortech does not make a supercharger for the j series cars. Comptech makes a great supercharger and with the trans cooler you should be fine with the power that is made.
