Be sure to watch the new battery closely. If the new battery starts smoking, then your problem could be something serious.

Are you sure? My 94 GS-R has those rectangular removable caps on its battery, like where you would add water to it. I don't have any record of the battery ever being replaced. Is it possible I'm still using the original battery? Everthing has operated fine since I bought it in June.

The new battery has been installed and been there since last night everything seems to be ok.

It could've been my remote starter
It wasn't properly grounded
it's fixed now

btw, i got a manual & the car is a 94, not sure if it was the original battery

I had the same thing happen in my van. The alternator was make too much power and was sending it back to battery. It smelt like bad eggs. Then my battery blow up and so did all my lights in my van. I was not happy stuck on I75 at 2am for two hours.

Yikes, my battery in my old car exploded the night before I was to leave for NOPI 2000. I tried to start the car and POW!! I found a huge crack in the top of the battery case. It was an AutoZone battery, and it's 5-year warranty had just expired like 2 months prior.

I have no clue how you can get a battery to smoke... A battery is just water, acid, lead, paper and a plastic cover. I'd be very worried... get a new battery. lol

"your car is broken."

LOL LOL LOL

If you have a stereo system, make sure it's also fused at the battery...sounds like a short to me, check for any wires making bare contact with ground through firewall and stuff, and listen to teken!
