your prolly gonna get flammed but,

1. use the search
2. no b series motors in accords not enough torque. F and H Series are the
easiest swaps for ease and power go with majority and swap in the h22.

[RANT]
Rule #1 of engine building: It is never, never, never justified decreasing displacement if the replacement engine has 22% less peak torque!!

A b16 has 111 PEAK ft/lbs of torque!!!!!!

Nevermind the area under the torque curve is probably useless! Having 90ft/lbs in an accord at 5500rpms! Good God! Repent now and be saved!

B-SERIES MOTORS DONT GO INTO 4th or 5th GENERATION ACCORDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!

[B]DOES ANYONE UNDERSTAND THE RELATIONSHIP OF TORQUE to HORSEPOWER or TORQUE to WEIGHT!!![B]

ALL THOSE POOR SOULS WITH b16s and b18s WANT MORE TORQUE AND YOUR TRYING TO GET RID OF YOUR TORQUE!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH

*Nick runs away screaming and twitching*

hey i may not know much about engines but atleast i know that with out torque u would not go any wear why in the hell do u think they make top fuel dragsters with just about the same torque as howers power so the can get down the track dumbasss

they also weigh around 2000 pounds

power to weight ratio is all need to remember

I dont get it, who are you calling a dumbass? Didnt you just ask if a b16 was a good idea as a potential swap into an accord?

Since you claim to know the value of HP and Torque in relation to moving a automobile, why did you even ask your original question?

Torque comes from displacement. Power comes from spinning fast. Horsepower is the rate at which torque is applied. Spin an engine real fast and you can turn a small amount of torque into good power, but it's still a small amount of torque.
Your Accord's stock engine is an F22, that's 2.2 liters of displacement. A Civic has a B16 and an Integra a B18, that's 1.6 and 1.8 liters respectively. Those motors make more power than an Accord motor 'cause they spin faster (8k RPM and beyond), but because the engines are so much smaller, they have minute amounts of torque. Even a Type R's 195 HP B18C5 doesn't have more torque than a stock Accord engine.

PS You could make an Accord F22 or Prelude H22 motor spin past 8k RPM and make some insane power, but that takes a ton of money and work to make those engines spin that fast.

an h22 has around 35-40 more hp and a little bit more torque...and you can get one in america for around 2200-3000 depending on where you buy it...but an accord type r or SiR-t engine would cost around 6000 just for the fact that they have to be imported from japan or Europe. The better idea in this case for obvious reasons is to go with the H22 prelude engine. And even if you do import an Accord Type R from Japan...most people would still think you slapped a type r sticker on your car...but whatever...if you have the money and think the accord from japan would be 'better' for you...then just go with that

oh yeah...one more thing...if you are looking to put a turbo on the motor or do any kind of upgrades to the engine you won't find much for the type r engine in america...remember that it's jdm...so everything you buy (Even intakes) will have to come from japan thus rasing the price for even the smallest mods a great deal...just somethin to think about.

Oh, sorry, using motor codes is second nature to me now, I keep forgetting not everyone knows Honda motor codes yet. In case it's not clear yet, the H22* is a '93-up Prelude [DOHC] VTEC motor, making 190~200 HP, and the F22* is a '90-up Accord motor, making from 125~145 HP in SOHC VTEC and SOHC non-VTEC designs. The number designates engine displacement, so naturally 22 means 2.2 liters, and Civic and Integra engines like the B16 and B18 are 1.6 and 1.8 liters respectively.
Anyways, before some advice, what trim levels (DX, LX, EX) are your Accords, and are they auto or manual?

Thats not really true. An H22 is basically an H22, it doesnt matter that much where it comes from. They are all pretty much the same (93-96 H22s are closed desk, 97-01 are open deck, but that has no impact on bolt ons), they do have subtle differences. But with your example an intake from a USDM H22 (ex:AEM) will fit on a JDM H22.

when we did Coreys swap the difference was nil in the actual construction of the motor, a few plugs were different, injectors etc. The biggest difference is OBD I to OBD II.

First of all, the SiR motor which is an F20b will NOT work because it spins the other way. And, 90% of all Accord swaps on this board are for the H22 engines. And heres a hint, if no one does it (like swapping in a B series or the F20b), then its either impossible or impractical.

However, I'd still like to see someone try my idea. Try the D15 motor! 70 ground rumbling hp!
