Default 01 GSR dipstick tube

Ok, well i have a quick question.

I JUST got a 01 GSR last week, and i never checked the oil till yesterday. when i pulled the dipstick out, the tube/pipe that the dipstick goes into came out with the dipstick. now, i put it back in, and everything is fine now, but i dont wanna have that tube coming out everytime i check the oil level.

now the car IS under a short warrenty, but its a $100 debuctible for labor and repair. do you guys know how i could fix this, or if its worh paying $100 deductible to have the dealer fix it? doesnt seem like its leaking oil, but i want everything to be perfect on this car.

Any Info would be greatly appreciated
Thanks
Rob

had the same thing happen on my 01 gsr around 20-25k or so. For a 100 bucks I guess I wouldnt pay that, I got mine fixed on warranty so I can tell you, but I know the only part needed was a new tube. THEY pulled the exhaust manifold but the guys in the itr forum said it was unnecessary if i remember right. basically pull it out, hammer a new one in there and jbweld if you want i think.

thanks for the info.

im gonna verify how my warranty goes, and if its gonna be $100 outa my pocket, then ima just tap it in with a hammer (lightly and easy) if that dont fix it, it'll get JBwelded.

i went to the honda dealer. the tube is $20 and it has a black o-ring on it. the o-ring is supposed to be pushed into the block, which is what is supposed to keep the tube from coming out (all told to me by the dealer). he said to try to hammer it in as long as is not too hard. he said if that doesnt work i can either go with JB weld (dont really wanna do it b/c if for whatever reason i wanna take it off i cant) or just buy a new tube for the $20 and tap that in.

either way im not paying the $100 deductable to fix a $20 part. thanks for all the advise. ill post back here on how it worked out.

Thanks
Rob
