My gauges are just toying with me now...
Hi guys! I want to start off thanking you all for the contributions I've seen on this forum. I've been a lerker for about a year and have never had to post about a problem because you've all already had an answer for me. But alas my beloved '95 Civic Ex is now teasing me in strange new ways...
Around the time I hit 140k miles I noticed my fuel gauge was acting oddly. When I'd fill her up it would jump to full but then come back to about 3/4 of a tank. I didn't pay this a whole lot of mind because I just filled her habitually and didn't really use the gauge at all.
But then last week (around when I hit 145k) I noticed that my temp gauge wasn't getting very far. It was moving but hardly at all. It was bitterly cold here in Chicago on that day, but I knew the temp gauge should be getting a lot higher than that. And yesterday the gauge stopped moving at all.
But here's the kicker: Now with the temp gauge completely non-functional, my fuel gauge is working perfectly! I filler her up last night and it remains to be accurate today.
So that's neat and all, but I'm a little concerned about the temp gauge and I'm really worried my radiator (or anything else important) may be relying on it.
I figured I'd try swapping a fuse and see if that helped at all, but I can't seem to locate an appropriate fuse.
Anyone have any idea what's going on here? Or failing that... know which fuse to be looking for?
Thanks a lot and thanks again for the 50 other times you guys have helped without me needing to post at all!

its probably just the sensor. replace it and see what hapens. you should be able to get one really cheap around here.
I'm sorry if I sound thick... But which sensor? Any suggested names I should be looking for so I can search on Google to find out more information on replacing it.
This is such an odd problem, I've been from one end of the net to the other and haven't found anyone else reporting similar behavior. I remain a bit worried about my radiator not coming on, and hence my engine frying. Is there any (early) warnings I might watch out for in the event that my engine is over-heating? I've driven about 70-100 miles everyday this week without any problems, but it's been extremely cold.

my car had the same exact problem with the fuel gauge, i took it to a shop and it turned to be my fuel pressure...now about the temperature gauge i'm not sure what that could be

Water temp sensor. I believe it's neat the T-stat housing. I would change the sensor and T-stat. Use only OEM though, I've heard alot of bad things about any other type not working properly.
Your local dealer should have the parts, but if you don't need them right away, you can order them from http://www.slhondaparts.com
