LS vtec ...tranny choice ????
it s hard and xpensive to find a type r tranny, and i can have a good deal on sir 00,
i would like to know if it s a good choice or it s better to wait and get a gsr,
and i also go on highway ( i mean, often) so i wouldl ike to put a final drive like LS, is it possible on SIR tranny...
anyway let me know, thk you

it really depends on if you are looking for the gearing or the ltd slip. The gearing isn't too much different in all the vtec trannies (gsr, type r, b16). But the type r will have ltd slip from honda, which you would have to pay for later. There is a good gear ratio guide on g2ic.com in the teg tips section.

its LSD not ltd.. there isn't very much difference between the si, gsr, and the itr tranny. the itr comes factory with lsd which gives u an advantage over the other two trannies. while ur cruising on the interstate, ur rpms will be about 4200 in the itr and the gsr tranny. im not too sure what the rpms are in the si tranny. but correct me if im wrong, if u put the LS final drive in the vtec series tranny, since the gear ratios are so close together, putting in the LS final drive would hurt the acceleration?

you probably dont need LSD. A b16 would be the cheapest option with shorter gears, but the final drive is 4.4, so you may not want it. I would go with a gsr, their final drive is 4.78 or something, and the ratio's are suitable for whippin around and economy.
so, start saving

the last time i heard the higher the .** was shorter than the lower .** so that would mean the gsr and itr tranny would have a shorter final drive.

b16 tranny + lsd = itr tranny (basically, anyway). they have a 4.4 fd (or 4.785 if it's a jdm itr)
the gsr has a 4.4 fd as well.
