tokico shocks not fitting right on front
i was installing the front shocks and the diameter on the bottom end of the shock is smaller then the kyb's that were on the car originally. so when the arm that holds the bottom of that shock in place is tightened all the way the shock is still not on there tight. is there anything i can do about this i have checked the serial #s on the shock and they are correct, i thought perhaps i would cut out a small slab of metal and fit that in with it to make the hold tighter, could it be the arms itself need replacing? thanks.
Are you talking about the "yoke" that attaches at the bottom of the strut and goes around the axle? If so thats really wierd...I installed tokikos on my old 94-hatch and they fit like a champ...Definatelky don't try and cut and insert metal to take up the space...Your suspension needs to be safe and not rigged like a set of led wiper lights or whatnot.
well i dont really have the money to replace them right now but i may just weld them on or do some ghetto welding, we'll see. hehe thanks thouhg
are the shocks for what ever year car you have? the 88 shocks are totally differnent then the 89-91 shocks, you might have the wrong year

That's only for the rear.

hmmm... sounds like the previous owner used a set of EG shocks and in order to make them work, used EG forks. EG shocks are a bit larger than EF shocks, which is why youre seeing the difference.
to tell for sure, what do the two letter stamping on the fork say?
VL=EG fork
HR=EF fork

just get the right forks for your car. theyre easy to find at a junkyard.
as for the difference of 88 and 89-91 FRONT shocks, they are different, but only in the adaptor bracket. the brakeline brackets are slightly different, looks like the changed the path of the brakeline after 88 for some reason, so the 89-91 tokico kit comes with an adaptor plate, which is why theres a separate part number, but is otherwise the same.
stock 88 shock on the right. 90 tokico shock with adaptor on the left. you see without the adaptor, its the same thing.
