jdm h22 with a stock tranny??

Default jdm h22 with a stock tranny??

i got a sweet motor deal, this guy i know has a jdm h22 30k on it and his accord, its an auto though, he wants to trade motors plus cash because he wants to sell his car stock. well thing is like stated its an auto so how would driving a h22 motor with stock tranny be like, gear ratio wise? any info would be grateful! thanks

it's not horrible, but it's not great at the same time either...you will still have much more power than with your original f22, just with longer gearing...the gearing is not setup to take advantage of the h22's powerband like the h22 tranny is...i'd buy the motor and then search around on this site to find an h22 tranny to go with it though...

id get a 90 to 93 accord trany, gear ratios are way longer than prelude.

what? Why..? If it can't be helped and your not swaping the motor for racing purposes then the f22a tranny will be fine. As stated the gear are longer so you will have higher top end, but sucky acceleration.

If you find a good priced h23 or h22 then get thoughs. H23 is the "middle child" of the h22a tranny vs the f22a tranny

ok they are longer than prelude tranny but are they shorter than 5th gen accord?

I agree that the H23 tranny is good for this. I have to disagree that acceleration will be "sucky" . The Accord Engine with a F22 tranny is ok. But with an H22A you're getting 40~50 more horsepower on the same tranny so it can only be better. Comparing the acceleration to an H22 tranny, the H22 tranny would be faster accleration. I've heard from many people that the H22A is at about 4K rpms at a decent highway speed. (poor fuel milage on highway)
