ZC motor swap question
I have a 91 CRX Si with a DOHC ZC motor swap. I was wondering what that motor came out of besides the CRX SIR? Also i am changing the trans cause 3-4 gear went out on me and need to change the clutch. Which clutchs can i use? Can a clutch from a B series cable trans work? Or does it need to be from a d series cables trans only?
Thanks
Thanks

The zc came from the 88-91 jdm Civic/Crx Si and some other misc. honda models in japan. A similar engine(d16a8/a9) came in the edm 88-91 Civic/Crx Si. The SiR models came with the b16a.
You will need a d series cable clutch. Just remember there is a difference in the number of splines on the input shaft between the 88 and 89-91 d series cable trasnmissions.

But if the tranny came from an 88 it will have 21 splines, then get the 88 clutch, if it came from an 89-91, it will have 20 splines, get an 89-91 clutch...</TD></TR></TABLE>
If this is true[which for the most part is] then will the 89-91 clutch's bolt onto the flywheel of the 88? Reason I ask is I have an unknown year flywheel, but my 90-91 DX clutch bolts right onto it. So then my assumption is I have an 88 flywheel. The old clutch was 21 splines, I changed the trans to 20 splines and the clutch disk/pp also. Yet the clutch wont engage, I can freely shift 1-5/R without using the clutch whilst the car is running. BTW- Didn't mean to hijack but I needed some input
. Thanks all, - Darrell

Pretty sure it will bolt up as they sell flywheels from 88-on not 89-on (if the 88 was different they wouldnt include that year), its just the splines on the tranny and on the clutch that are the difference... So if the clutch, p. plate and the tranny are all 20 splines it should work... Did u also change your throw out bearing? It may be bad... Or maybe the clutch cable needs to be adjusted?

Yeah, all was replaced from a kit. The problem almost seems as the clutch disk splines are not sliding onto the output shaft splines. So there is no engagement of the clutch. Is it possible the width is different in the fly? - Darrell
