just wondering what the difference was. i need to order one right now and the 94 gsr is like $138 and the 01 gsr is about $98. i will be putting it on a b20b block, so any help would be appreciated.
94+ LS, GS, GSR, ITR oil pumps are all the same, thats I was told at least... Maybe someone else can come chime and come up with an answer....
(I could be wrong, it might be the water pumps that are the same, but Im pretty sure the oil pumps were the ones that were identical)

i know gsr and itr have a higher flow rate than ls,gs,rs, but i dont' understand why the same dealership is charging $138 for a 94 gsr and $98 for a 01 gsr

i'll tell you why. everyone knows that 94-95 GSR's own all others and the dealership is using it to their advantage. that is an obd-1 oil pump!!!!!!!11111111 you better recognize....

The newer P72/OBDII Oil Pump is updated so it flows better than the PR3/OBDI Oil Pumps. The P72/OBDII Oil Pumps have provisions to mount a crankshaft fluctuation sensor (CKF Sensor). It is a common myth amongst many that there is a specific ITR Oil Pump. In reality all 1996 and up Integras (OBDII) share the same part number for their oil pumps. The OBDII Oil Pumps will fit on OBDI engines if you change out the lower timing belt cover to the OBDII one or just hack it to fit with a dremel. Your choice. They physically will interchange with one another.

well, if he has a b20 block, and the pump is a p72 part#, then he shouldn't have problems fitting a obd2 gsR oil pump since that is what originally was there (due to the crank angle sensor) as a replacement. You pretty much nailed the basic pump differences. Basically you have to match a obd1 oil pump with a obd1 lower timing cover, and a obd2 pump with the obd2 lower cover (obd2 has the crank sensor). But if the honda part# for the b20 pump is p72 then you should stick with the one you have (unless yours is shot for some reason). When I worked @ acura, I do remember the itr/gsr pumps being the same # and non-vtecs being a diff (p75?? don't remember off the top of my head). hth.

yes, non-vtec ones are different than vtec ones, and yes, the B20 is the same as GS-R. like previously said, just match up OBD-1 to OBD-1 and OBD-2 to OBD-2 b/c of the CKP sensor there on OBD-2's. might be able to use an OBD-2 pump and cover on an OBD-1 and just not use the sensor, but certainly not the other way around.
