Default Gas milage (tell me I'm not crazy)

Alright my 5th gen is getting ~200-250 miles per TANK...I have been told all Preludes run pretty rich, but this seems awful low, to me.

Mods: AEM CAI, Cheap header, 2.2" catback.

Is this normal?

Thanks for your help.

maybe you do alot of street driving?? thats about normal for my prelude too. the aEM might be hurting you a little but probably not much unless you have bigger rims+tires.

I could have gotten a little bit better too, I race a SRT4 and tried to race a Type R when I was trying to go for 400 mpg. I shifted before 3000 most of the time and drove mostly on the freeway.

you can also get better gas mileage by only filling up your tank to like 3/4 or 1/2 every time you gas up( less weight=more gas mileage)

I am lucky to hit 290 with mine, this is not ever hitting vtec and shifting at about 3k. My car is completely stock. But you kinda get used to it...

I have a 97 base with CAI and Field SFC-VTEC. Just got back from a roadtrip and got 400 miles on 13 gallons, just over 30 mpg.

threadjack: I'm not sure that's good for your motor. don't you want to stay more in the 2-3k range in normal driving?

meh, I've heard its not good for the rotating assembly (crank, rods, etc.) to run at low rpm like that. also, I think it promotes more carbon deposit buildup.

but don't take my word for it. don't you make like zero torque at that rpm? I know my car's got nothing at that RPM, and my car is probably like 900 lbs lighter than yours.

2K rpm shifting doesn't feel good at all, and i would get ran off the road shifting like that where i live.. Shifting at 4K rpms usually gets me by without someone riding my damn bumper.
