Default 2.2L sohc vtec?

are there really 2.2L sohc vtec prelude engines? i raced one this morning in my LS integra and beat him by 5 car lengths. i talked to the guy and he said it wuz a 2.2L sohc vtec. i thought prelude engines only came dohc vtec or dohc non vtec? if it is 2.2L sohc vtec is it the same as the Accord 2.2L vtec?

The USDM 4th gen prelude S came in a 2.2L SOHC non-vtec. Japanese preludes came in SOHC 2.2L VTEC IIRC. Don't immediately say he must be lying.

In europe there has been an accord with 2.2 sohc vtec (F22Z2 engine).

now about the accord, i wuz wondering this because i know that the f22b and the f23a4 are both sohc vtec. the f22b comes in the 94-97 accord LX/EX and the f23a4 comes in the 98+ accord.. i mean either, can someone help me decide if this wuz the accord motor or an actual prelude engine.

he got the jump and clutched it at 35 and i wuz in 2nd and i just stomped on the gas without dumping the clutch, i heard him rev and it sounded exactly like Vtec.

Your not going to be able to "hear vtec" if he just revs the car or miss shifts and revs.

It could have an accord engine if the original engine was swapped out. I dunno why someone would pick that engine to swap in, unless they already had it or something like that...

also the 2.2 sohc vtec motor isnt a performance vtec motor, vtec is variable and is more for economy than performance at high rpms...
