Hey guys, I'm just about to repaint my car and was wondering if anyone has had a bodyshop shave their side moldings and how much it cost? Is it worth it? I think it looks sick personally..

 

I think personally, you should ask this in the cosmetic section. I think personally, that not everyone on here is a certified body man and cannot give you a proper estimate without looking at the car and talking to you in person. Your rates and how much your going to be charged are some what relative to your location/car/how you speak to the body man...

yeah, it certainly depends on what area you live in. even though its just a matter of welding severl holes shut and painting them, it costs more than you think. the body shops in my area want at least $400 to weld shut the spoiler holes in my trunk

I've had this work done. It's quite expensive because there is a lot of little tedious work involved. All the holes have to be welded shut, then grinded down smooth...followed up with bondo then lots of sanding. Primer...painting, buffing. Though it does look quite nice. I agree with that.

 

I asked a guy and he said $1000 for each door. I dont know ANYTHING about welding/sanding/painting so I am sure he gave me a high price, but at least you have a number.

 

OUCH that is a lot of cash, one of my friends is learning how to do it him self it doesnt seem too difficult just time consuming you might wanna think about doing it ur self, or maybe even doing some of the work ur self (the stuff that takes the most time) and just let them weld and paint, you could always sand by ur self tat is the thing that usually takes the longest
