h22a IMO is the best bang for buck. 200hp, 161tq, 10.6:1cr, dirt cheap. will require some fabrication. complete h22a swap w/ lsd from jhpusa is $2,440.

BY THE TIME IT IS ALL SAID AND DONE IT IS EASIER TO PUT A GSR OR B16 IN.IF YOU WANT GO WITH the type r. the jdm type r is 210 horse and you will not have to deal with the car being nose heavy as you will with the h22.plus it bolts right in.the h22 is not exactly a bolt in process with out aftermarket mounts.type r uses 94 and up mounts.plus you will have to cut and weld the linkage or buy one,and last you will have to setup the cable shifter for the h22.i believe to much work .sure will be super fast in straight line.but will not handle nice.i have heard a lot of braking problems with nose diving and even watch one car at the local races pick the rear ties off the ground about five inches from slamming on brakes.so from personal experience of friends they all say stay b series in a street car.

Just something to think about but a buddy of mine put a h22 in his eg hatch and in the rain or snow when you go to turn the car understeers really bad. Even on pavement the car will never steer the same. Its not even a strait bolt in like scivic94 said, and the motor is has so much torque it tends to crack the motors mounts weather they are hasports or not. I think you would be happy with a gsr, i put one in mine with bolt ons and h22s arnt a problem
