Default b16a2 or h22 into a hatch

i can get a b16a2 or h22a front clips for about the same price, which one would you guys get???
How much harder is it to put a h22 into a hatch than a b16a2???
I heard h22 in a hatch is really bad for handling, how bad is it???
any other comments or suggestions

thanks

I beg you please search. This is up every day it seems like.

H22A of course is harder because you will not get all the necesary pieces. You need different axles and you also need to make a couple holes for the swift linkage to fit.

The H22 swap has a lot of hidden costs. b16a is a cheaper swap by $500(if you have hook ups)-$1000.

BUT the h22 is in a different ballpark. Go to the hybrid forum and look around... Lately 80% of all posts are h22 swaps.

Good luck,

it depends on what your budget is like, b16 swap is hella cheap, but gutless imo, h22 swaps are quick but alot of money involved in the swap, you can get a h22 engine tranny and ecu for less than a b16 engine tranny and ecu but the mounts alone are about 500 bucks, if is a full jdm front clip Id do the b16 and convert it to RHD! good luck!

I'll tell you what.

I'll leave this one open for a bit to see if you get any real help.

Unfortunately this will turn into an H22A vs. B series thread once again, so I'm sure it'll be headed for a padlock shortly.

You need to answer these questions or I will lock this one ASAP:

1. What is your budget like?

2. Who will be doing the install?

3. Do you mind having to use a mount kit, or do you want stock mounts?

4. Do you mind having to buy aftermarket axles and/or piece together axles?

5. What are your plans for the car? Street only? Drag? Auto-X? Some or all of these?

6. Can you afford to upgrade the suspension to handle extra weight up front?

7. Do you mind having to cut the chassis to fit H22a shifter cables or pay extra money for a Place Shifter Cable Box?

8. Do you mind any extra wiring?

I'd say that if you can afford the H22A swap the B16A will be no match - period. I own a B16A in one of my hatches and it's fun, but nowhere near as good as an H22A from a sheer power and torque standpoint IF the H22A is running PROPERLY.

If your trying to compare the price of a complete B16A swap and an H22A in the car, don't. The H22A will cost a good deal more if you want it to run right with little hassles.

Answer those questions and we'll go from there.

It all depends on what you want from your car. If you choose to do the H22 then expect to pay for axles (DSS Stage 1 - $400) Mountkit (HaSport $550, HCP like $350ish). If you want to retain AC then you will need to buy a bracket from HCP. That's what you need to get that sucker in there. Realize that with the H22 you will also have to do minimal cutting of your frame and enlarge the hole for the Shift Linkage. Later on, not necessary right way you will have to upgrade your radiator. um... that's about it. good luck with your decision.

besides the motor mounts, i wasn't aware of all the other hidden costs with the h22, I just want a quick daily driver, i will be doing the install,
what kind of honda axels can i use for this swap??
what and how much do I have to cut to install shifter cables??

my plans are mostly daily streetracer/driver, may be once in a while go to the drags
I gues now im leaning toward the b16a2, because of the other costs, the thing is that i can get both clips for about the same price, just want to keep it around 4 g's with the car, because i can get an eg hatch for under 2, my real project is my s14

To keep it under $4,000 then I would recommend doing the B16a2. I am looking to spend around $4,000 for the swap in my car. If you went with the B16a2 then it is basically a direct bolt in.

H22 you either have to use 90-93 Accord intermediate shaft w/ 90-93 Integra axles, or custom aftermarket ones using the prelude intermediate shaft. Cutting is just widening the shifter hole for the prelude shifter, and then towards the firewall a little bit in order to mount the cables.

If the Civic isn't going to be your "speed racer car" then a B16 will more then suit your needs.

Hope this helps.

If you want a reliable, quick, orquey, daily driver car, also look into a LS swap, as it's pretty much a no brainer swap like the B16, only there's no additional wiring for VTEC (if your car isn't already equipped with it). But mate a SiR or GSR tranny up to the LS block and viola, you have a quick, torquey 1.8L setup that doesn't need to rev high, but is quick enough for most people to be happy with. Just another idea.

H22 is definetely a swap that you won't be dissapointed with, but it's also one that should be researched carefully, realizing what is exactly involved with such a swap (labor, parts, and time & money-wise).

depends on ur driving options.....if you wanna go drag...h22 will work perfect and have some nice power, making it somewhat worth the price......if u get a b16, ur gonna be looking at like a autocross/street driver. my personal opinion is, if you can afford the h22, but aren't drag, go with the b18c1 (gsr) and turbo it....but i'm biased.....gsr makes more power that b16, and is more fun to drive, my thoughts though

i would get the b16a2 cause its a cheaper swap. it all depends on your funds. altho the h22 is a harder swap with the mounts being diffrent and all it will be faster. but hey, how fast can you afford to go.
