no, you shouldn't need any kind of weather stripping...and yes, it bolts to the factory hinges using the 4 factory bolts...

It took me 20min to remove the stock hood and bolt on the VIS and align it. I did it by myself. Just held it up w/ one arm and bolted it w/ the other checking for alignment the whole time. I used a criss/cross pattern when bolting it down to make sure it was even.

My hood has a little warpage but only b/c of the type it is (Invader) since it's common for them to come out of the mold that way. A set of hood pins will correct it though.

I have the OEM VIS hood, it fits pretty good but it does have a little gap between the hood and the head lights. I tried lowering the rubber stops but it is the hood that is warped. Other than that I am happy with it. Just curious how much are you going to pay for it? I paid 428 shipped.

the hoods do have a little bit of a gap on the sides, and its an easy job to replace the hood, all you do is just screw it in, just like you do with your stock hood. mine needs a little help getting lacthed onto the hood latch but they are great hoods.

sorry about the fuzziness of the picture, best one i had on hand.
hope it helps

VIS hoods are overrated.

I have one and have mad gaps on the side. On both sides to be exact. If i had a short ram intake on my V6 id be fucked because so much water gets in there. I had to replace my OEM hood because of a accident so I cant just stick the OEM one back on anymore. I have water leaking in on both sides and am really pissed about it. Im thinking of fabricating some weather stripping onto it but have not had the time to yet since its so damn cold out.

My gaps are about as bad as his up there but on both sides.

The gap is little bigger when you compare to vis to oem hood, not that much bigger like the one in the picture.

i ended up using washers(one for each bolt) on one side of the hinge to get it level, it's doesn't fit perfectly but damn close.(left and front is perfect, the right have a slightly bigger gap)

yep vis is overrated

and about water getting inside, you could stop that by putting on weather stripping. i used the foam stuff for copper pipe insulation, it's like a 2inch tube, it comes with sticky stuff, so it's a cut and stick on affair.

I love my hood, but just like every one else, gaps on the sides, I got a short arm intake too, and its always sucking up water, real kick in the pants, other than that its sweet.
im in ottawa, canada and my cars in the garage for the winter so I dont have to worry about snow or any of that crap.

if u guys want to eliminate some of that gap loosen the fender on the side that has the most gap there are 3 10mm bolts per side and push the fender in more there is alot of play on the fenders and will help close the gap alittle more i hade the same problem with my vis hood...
