let me 1st say that i did a search and didn't find anything.

anyways , i'm about the buy a si tranny out of a 95 civic but my question is how would i know for sure that it is a si tranny? is there a numer or letters i should look for? i need help quick i'm supposed to get it today.

P20/B000 is for EX/Si, u didnt search too hard took me like 15 seconds but there u go

 

i recomend u go get the jdm d15b tranny or jdm d16a cuz their tranny have shorter gears n if ur lucky enuff u might get D series LSD

 

whats the difference between a s20 and a s40?

 

i think the s20 is from eg's and i know the s40 is from ek's i just bought one

d15b trannys and ex/si trannys have identical gearing

thanks alot for ur help guys. well i got both of them is one better than the other? i think the s20 came out of a 94 cx and i dont know what the s40 came out of. i need to put a tranny in my car but i dont know which one i should put in

 

s40 for sure! its an ex tranny from 96-00

 

so i guess ex it is, will the dx axles from an auto work with the tranny?

Best d-series tranny there is... steel shifter forks.

 

Paper thin steel shift forks... I've been through 2 1-2 shift forks and two sets of bearings already. I've since gone back to a 94si tranny that I had laying around. Threw new bearings and seals in i t and its been going for 15,000mi already. Thats about double any of the ek trannies went.

Maybe you should learn how to shift correctly? It's no fun breaking a piece off your aluminum shifter fork when your street racing 100 miles from home. I will never run a tranny with aluminum shifter forks again.

i think the tranny in a 93 si would be a s40 also. the guy who i got mine from said it was from a 95 si.

did you know you should use the clutch when shifting at 7000 rpm???

92-95 EX/SI tranny's are s20 and they have aluminum shifter forks. The 96-00 EX tranny's are s40 and they have steel shifter forks.

 

ok so the s20 is from eg's and s40 is from ek's right?

So how would I know if the tranny is from a dx, lx, cx, vx, hx, ex or si?
