Default :::::::::Advice on Exhaust pipe size 2.25inch vs 2.5inch::::::::

there are so many exhaust to pick from..size,design,sound.....
the mode on my car is short ram intake so far..and not really plan to get engine upgrade, such as Cams,Came gears....
for a GSR what exhaust size will flow good also fine gain (also trying match up with header and car)
so what should i pick? 2.25inch or 2.38 or 2.5inch

any advice will help, thank you

it all depends on your peak hp goals. sounds like you aren't going to do much more than breathing mods. 2.25 should be fine

on stock motor..will 2.25 and 2.5 get off same HP?
what is back-pressure? from bigger pipe problem? or smaller pipe?

2.25 will probably get better hp. with too big of a pipe, the exhaust pulses get disorganized and you loose power. although i doubt the difference will even be noticeable

2.5 inch piping with stock motor or some bolt on(I/H/E) will actually lose some low end power..

right but why lose the little power you have under the 4k for very little or No applicable gain in the high end

people saying 2.5 is better..cause of air flow is better..i can see 2.5 will flow better than 2.25 or 2.38 . will there bad effect on 2.5 on basic setup engine? (I/H/E)

There have been some good posts in here. Remember: your engine comes down to being one thing only; a big over working air pump. The more air you can get in and out as efficiently as possible the better. Also like the guy mentioned before, there are harmonic pulses that work in your benifit to help rid the system of exhaust gases more effciently. Mess up the harmonics and you get unwanted back pressure and hp loss. I really don't think 2.5 would be such a bad thing at 190whp or so.

Once you get into turbo charging then 2.5 will be of no use. For now, it will work for you.

Have to disagree with you on that one. On a greddy kit 2.5 would be just fine. Now on a larger setup, like a drag setup 3" would work better... Don't forget we still have 1.8 L 4 cylinders (well most of us )

2.5 is better for the air to flow but the question is do u have such amount of air to flow in a 2.5 piping?

I thought that all headers have either a 2" collector or a 2.5" collector. At least that is what all the headers that I see being sold have. Which header would someone pair a 2.25" exhaust with?

Here are some specs that I've been looking at from Team Integra:

it doesn't matter thaaaat much if you aren't going to be racing. judging that you just did intake i guess your not. the losses and gains people are talking about are minimal. take your time picking out your exhaust.

i would just get any 60mm exhaust u like, and not worry about the 60mm too much, get one that appeals to ur style and sound.

im here runnin a factory gsr header and gsr exhaust that got crushed in a accident anything would be better then that for a motor modded like mine.

Bigger is not always better, but if you ever plan on boosting, i'd go 2.5
