I don't think so, you have to be more aware when driving. Honda's allow you to shift with minimal clutch pedal pressure. Put it to the floor, put in some poly bushings to make sure that things go where they are supposed to. don't skip gears. i.e., run out 1-3 and then just put it into 5th. there were Some TSB's honds put out on this. It buggers the synchro's. i think that alot of driving habits casue problems that are blamed on short shifters. It also has to do with what clutch you are running with.

stock itr/gsr shifter is fine. i've had like 3 different shifters in my car. next to stock i like the skunk2. still like stock itr better...which is same as gsr cept for it's in bling bling chrome.

A short shifter AS SUCH will not destroy a transmission. HOWEVER, if you shift as you do with the original lever on a car with a short shifter, this WILL destroy your transmission. SHort shifters force the synchros to do their job more quickly than they would with a stock lever, since short shifters force the shift to happen more quickly. So if you get a short shifter, just try not to shift so quickly.
just get the gsr shifter, you can't even tell the difference in throws between a skunk2 and gsr shifter. oem will be better since it's easier to shift compared to an aftermarket one where it is rough to shift and it doesn't have the smooth shifting as of oem. i'm getting the fastline shifter soon and i'll let you guys know how that feels. but as of now, i say just stick to a gsr shifter
