my whole car smells like gas and today i reached into the back seat to get something out and i noticed it stronger towards the back of the car.

whats wrong? i have like 130k and i have never changed anything with the fuel system or antyhing like that, it still has the Y7 and everything.

take the lower part of the back seat out and make sure the seal for the gas tank there is tight

 

it sound like it could be coming from the fuel pump access

 

Yeah, I'm betting your fuel pump is about to go. Get it checked out. If you drive long enough and the pump gets hot enough it will most likely stop working.

 

it happened to a friend of mine and it was that he left his gas cap off

 

naw i always put my gas cap on........and i am thinking it could be the fuel pump i mean i am pushing 130k-140k on the car, and i also noticed that even when i start the car like i will be on a flat level and like upto a half of tank of gas and it takes a minute to start like it cranks quite a few times, and i already replaced the alt. and starter. so i am thinking there is not enough pressure going through the gas lines which would obviously point to the fuel pump.

 

Take the lower back seat out and excamine the fuel pump area. Make sure all bolts are tight. Not sure how a fuel pump going bad could make your car smell like gas . Sounds like something isn't secure with the pump access lid.

 

aite i will just do that then.......problem is i don't have a second car to use if i take it to get checked

 

If its from the back seat, best bet is to take out the bench and see if the seal is gone. You'll be able to smell it.

Also, remember that your gas tank is in the back - perhaps a damaged tank?
