Instrument panel fuse blowing?
I just got my JDM HID front end installed and I drove it around for a little while, parked for a bit while I hung out with some people. Got back in my car and my instrumental panel lights were out. Checked the fuse...blown. So I replaced it and went along to a friends house. Got out and about an hour and a half later got back in and surprise...fuse blown again. Right now I've got the 7.5A fuse in there like they say to use. Any idea of what the problem could be? The only wires that were even touched during the install were the headlight wires. I'm stumped on why my instrument panel fuse keeps blowing.
yikes......for one you can try a 10amp fuse....but I'd try to see if there isn't a short somewhere though. Or maybe a pinched wire somewhere. Electrical problems are the worst to chase down
Hope you get it fixed

Look around for the problem before putting in a stronger fuse... a stronger fuse will only allow the surge to travel to other places and cause possible damage.
hid front end.... somethings miswired if youre instrumental fuses are blown...
only fuses i needed to change after the HID stuff was that the headlight fuses went from 10a to 15a

thats wierd man. hey, bring it back by tomorrow and we will try to buzz that thing out. It is probly a bad ground to the lights. I'll look it over and we can go from there.
BTW GET SOME Clean pics!!!

the hood is warped out its ***. we tired moving the bump stops and hood latch and adjusting bolts, but nothing helped. more reason to get a new one. anyways, here are some pics

Try checking the wires again. I had the same problem and it ended up being my lazy *** using electrical tape and wires touching each other that shouldn't be. Shrink wrap is your friend.
Don't drive at night also, the same fuse is also to your taillights. I found out the hard way

</TD></TR></TABLE> Crap, I drove home last night on the highway with the fuse blown. Thank god a cop didn't pull me over since my inspection is past due. I've got plenty of fuses now, so I'll be alright until I get the problem fixed.

The same thing started happening to me when I installed my fog lights on a 00 civic however. It kept blowing out the 7.5 fuse for the dash/tail lights. I was worried about putting the 10 at the time as i also heard it could eventually lead to more electrical problems. I did that about 1 year and a half ago. Always promised myself to get it checked out and fixed it.
.... and im still promising lol

the same thing comes to mind when i installed my jdm 98+tail lights..
a friend of mine who also has an itr said i would have to get xtra fuses.
and that it will blow the fuses, well no problems yet. this might be off topic but still is related to electrical...ive taken the instrument panel off before it could be the bulbs.who knows...

Well, RPRacing re-grounded the headlights for me, to a known good ground, and that didn't work. I was at Advance Auto tonight getting sealant and bulbs for my dash, so I picked up some 15A fuses for my low beams. The guy behind the counter said the same thing 255. did, to switch from 10 to 15. So I popped the 15s in and I'll find out tomorrow if that fixed the problem.
