Adjusted my valves now the ticking is Louder !!! help !!
ok guys the cars been running shitty these past few days all of the sudden. i have other posts from few days ago about the problems. well as for the ticking, everyone told me the valves need to be adjusted. so i did that today. adjusted them with specs to Intake-.15-.19mm (.006-.007in)
Exhaust-.17-.21mm (.007-.008in)
when i was adjusting them, all of the were so tight i couldnt even get the feeler gauge between it. had to loosen the screw on some as much as about 2 full turns. so i get them all on spec. start the car and the ticking noise it louder !!! I dont know what the problem is. i went to drive the car down the block and didnt even sound normal in addition to the ticking. sounded like a mini diesel
help me out guys come on.. I heard maybe could be the valves were so tight that the cams got grinded and may be gougedand running shitty because of that? i dont know. just helpp me someone . thanks in advance and bump if you read this .. the car is an eg hatch with jdmb16

Sounds to me like you either adjusted the valves with the engine too warm, or did the cylinders in the wrong order and had the cam in the wrong position.

and as far as the specs before im not sure. they were so tight that i couldnt get the feeler guage between had to turn from 1/2 turn to as much as about 2 full turns in order for it to feel right.

you did the adjustment wrong.
re-read the amnual on how to do it before starting again.
hints:
-pull the spark plugs out. makes cranking the motor over easier.
-start with stone cold motor.
-know how to set piston 1 at TDC.
-when you are adjusting the valves on a particular cylinder, the cam lobes point away from the center of the head.
-there are marks on various parts of the motor to help you tell when the motor/pistons are at TDC. 1.white mark on crankshaft pulley should line up with a raised line on the timing belt cover. 2. cam gears have "up" marks on them and lines on the sides to ine up with raised lines on the timing belt cover as well.
good luck and always remember to crank over the motor once completely by hand tools, not the starter.
IM me if you need more help
