Default A Visit to the Dyno Today

Had a nice morning at TC Performance here in Denver. Finally got the VAFC installed correctly (idiots before didn't hook up the VTM wire) so now I can change the VTEC engagement point - that will be a huge plus on the track.

Tuning went well and the curves look good I think. I'm happy with the result. VTEC is set at 5100.
Mods are:
J's Racing intake
TODA Spec A's
TODA cam gears
Spoon 4-2-1 header
Carsound cat
Fujitsubo RM-01A exhaust

Give me your opinions...

could be smoother though, but that would take more than a VAFC to accomplish.. get the a/f chart too?

looks like the elevation out there hurt a bit, eh? I would expect slightly higher results with spec A's and cam gears..

I've got the A/F chart at home... yes, this altitude is insane...

Jonathan, what did the red plot represent? Previous VAFC settings or untuned?

Looks like you picked up a lot of usable power, even at those altitudes Is Hondata still under consideration?

Anyone care to guess the over/under on how many chime in with: "Wow. Low numbers. I made ***hp with less mods" ???

The red plot is the first run is the previous tune from 5/04 in Houston. Yes, I was happy with some of the usable power gained.. and he fixed up some 'issues' with te A/F ration as well.

LOL - yeah, I know those are coming... you'd think people would figure that out by now.

Honestly, when I get Hondata and get it fully tuned I'm hoping for at least 180whp with stock cams, cam gears and all the bolt-ons.

I would have expected more than that as well, but I guess altitude plays a big part. Isnt SAE supposed to "correct" for things like that? I was never really sure what SAE "corrected" or why it was used. I thought it was for different environmental conditions, etc.

I'd be pretty pissed if that was the case.

I imagine at least 180whp should be possible here.

Easy to say, but you and I did not dyno on the same day under the same conditions using the same DynoJet... so very difficult to compare really (in fact impossible).

Damn when my R was stock it had anywhere from 185-191 whp. Your car sucks ***!

Just playing, nice numbers indeed. You should drive a mile down from that high perch and see what the numbers will look like at a lower elevation. Of course, you will have to retune as the car will not be at optimal settings.

What the hell is wrong with people? Why and how can they even try to associate their car's power on some random dyno to another person's car on another random dyno? Yes everything everywhere is exactly the same, I completely forgot we don't live in reality, we are living on the internet and we are all part of the machine. *****!!! just annoying to keep hearing the same **** day in and day out.

All I'm saying is, it's a well established fact that most ITRs dyno from 160-165whp, no matter which dyno or conditions there are. That's the widely accepted baseline. Some people have dynoed in the high 160s, and this could due to many factors.

I'm not knocking Flux down, I'm looking at this mods:

J's Racing intake
TODA Spec A's
TODA cam gears
Spoon 4-2-1 header
Carsound cat
Fujitsubo RM-01A exhaust

And I see about 10whp gain over stock, which doesn't sell for me. With those kinds of mods, 180-185 should be achievable. I hope he gets it with more tuning.

So, get off my back.

I know you weren't trying to put me down, and no offense was taken. My response was intended as more of a general statement for those that don't know any better (but should by now).

But I agree with you, with more tuning and a Hondata that I may get down the road there is more power in there...
