Default Timing belt

Hey guyz, I have an situation for you that I think you guyz can help me with that i can't quite figure out. My water pump broke down and so I changed it. Well while I was unbolting the crank pulley on the block (the hard son of a bitch) i guess the placement of tdc was off. And when I got the new water pump in and the timing belt on my car ran fine for one day. The next day I decided to fix my timing with my timing light... now here's the tricky part. As I retarted it and advanced it to see where i was at, my car started choking itself every damn time I hit the gas... why is that? And even when i put the timing right where it should be it still chokes... Is it because I didn't set it at tdc before I put the belt? Or should it self ajust itself? Should I line up the crank pulley tdc with the cam gear? Iono! Help!!!

If you didn't set it at TDC then you are wasting your time until then

Sorry for the bad news, but you may need to remove it again to check TDC.

once you get your motor set to TDC, also make sure your distributor is set on #1.
