motor swap + changed timing belt and water pump.... car runs terrible.
it was my first time doing a motor swap and a timing belt .
its a 93 civic LX , my car came with a d19z8 when i bought it , but i blew it and am low on cash so i put a d16z6 .
heres the part i hope i did right, the timing
-I Set the cam gear to the "up" posistion and lined up the two lines on each side.
-next i lined up the crankshaft by seting the bottom cover on and the the crank shaft pulley and lining up the mark on the cover with the middle mark of the 3 on the right side of my pulley.
I hope I set it on the right mark , cause if you look down on the pulley theres 3 marks on the right side and 2 towrds the left.
-I set it to the middle mark on the right side.
I put the belt on the bottom first the saved the cam gear for last, this part gave me some trouble cause i couldnt seem to get the belt in a spot were it was tight but finaly got it.
I put everything together, started the car and the idle was terrible.
I put the timing light to it, trid to make adjustments but nothing helped.
Seems like it drops every 2 seconds and then rises back up... ?
what did I do wrong or what should i check , please help me out bros.
what sensor could be broken ?

Your problem is on the crank, the markes you used (3 lines on crank and plastic pointer thing on the t-belt cover) is for ignition timing. You did the cam right, to do the crank the pulley must be off and theres a mark on the gear the t-belt goes on and a mark on the oil pump, those are the two that must be lined up for the crank to be in time.

k, that mark seemed like it was at the same angle as the crank so i just went ith the crank mark, didnt realy think about it much.

Definately your crank isn't set right. I think it's set a little before top dead center. just loosen your tensioner, slide the belt off the cam, set the crank at the RED dash, make extra sure the pointer under the cam is right on (if it's even a little off it WILL run like garbage) then slide the belt back on and you're in like flynn. Don't forget to tighten the belt and tensioner or you're in for a world of ****. Good luck.
