Default Dyno Results

Red=Baseline
Blue=After

Dynoed with AEM CAI/USDM DC 4-2-1 header/Hondata. I only gained 2 peak hp with the Hondata though. Future plans include a JDM header with 2.5" collector and SMSP cat. That should net an additional 8-10 whp. I will dyno the car again with the new mods and post the results again for everyone to see the difference.

The baseline (no tuning) was 173/125 with USDM DC header/AEM CAI (Everything else stock). Tuning only netted me 2 hp.

Don't know what to say but either your car was just right with its current mods so tuning netted you little. Or the tuner just doesn't know how to really do the hondata that well. But with more tweaking and time should get better. And you didn't mention how the rest of the power curve changed peak might have been small but elsewhere maybe as much as 10whp don't know....goodluck

Yes post up the graph. Most people tend to care less about peak, and more about area under the curve

I'm no expert, but those graphs loook a little erratic and not very smooth at all - especially the torque curve. Was anything done to try and smooth those out?

I think it's due to the weird-*** scale of the torque plot, almost looks like a Dynapack plot (even though it's a Dynojet).

Kengs is right. The torque curve is measured in increments of only 5 ft/lbs, so that's why it looks erratic

That's a ~1% difference. Isn't that considered acceptable error on the dyno?

In other words how can you be sure that's a repeatable gain? You'd want a couple dynos before and after.

if you only gained 2 hp from tuning with hondata, i would say that your tuner didn't do a very good job.

wow id think for the hondata you would have netted more power than that
the tq curve seems VERY eratic
my tq curve on a mustang dyno was flat as hell

Atleast the "AEM dip" is gone too...

As far as peak horsepower, yes I guess you can say I didn't gain that much, but I did gain significant gains throughout. I've been told by another tuner that with the basic mods I have there isn't too much leighway with what you can do with Hondata. I mean I only have an intake and USDM header. I gained 10 hp at around 5400 rpm and 2 hp throughout the powerband before. That's an improvement.

I don't think that is a very smart statement to make. Maybe try someone else out with the next dyno run? Good luck

I agree, considering stock R's are pig rich after 7000rpms, there is definately room for improvement.

Did the tuner touch the ignition tables at all? Or was this primarily a fuel tune?

The statement was made is reference to the amount of mods I have or lack of. But I'll take everyone's advice and go to another tuner when I dyno again in a few months.

Thanks for the input.

st00pid makes on average about 5-10whp when putting hondata on stock R motors and tuning them. not saying that's what everyone will get, but it gives you an idea of the power being freed up compared to the stock ecu.
