Default crx door compatability

ok i need some new doors for my crx. and ive been looking and ive come across a few sets that might work. one set isnt confirmed to be 2nd gen doors yet, but im waiting on this. the only thing im iffy about is the year on the door. its possible that its a 88 with pillar mounted belts. will the door physically fit on the car? would it work if i swapped over my door panels and seatbelt assembly? any and all help is appreciated.

this is why i need new doors. and pictures help bring attention to my thread ive noticed

i think the doors will fit on the car if you take the upper latch out of the door jam (the thing that guides the door around where the seatbelt is), but i do not think that you can mount the belts into the 88 doors, but you could get the pillar mount seat belts, or a 5 point harness. the 88 doors look cleaner any way my .02, but you need seat belts. and if you went with the pillar mount belts, you would also have to replace the plastic that goes around the rear windows.

I would suggest a new door skin but if your dead set on replacing the whole door yes any 2gen door will "fit" its just going to require some work as stated above.

i wish i bookmarked the thread that had pictures, but basically, what dod said is true, 88 doors will fit the 89+ chassis, but not the reverse. then the problem is seat belts. ive heard of ppl putting 88 pillar mounted belts on 89+ chassis, but it was not simple.

honestly, that door looks salvageable if you got a good body shop if you really had to. but if youre going to replace the door, unless you got a harness setup, 88 doors wont work for you.

Thats what I am saying a new OEM door skin will make the door look brand new.

i do want the trim, my car used to have a WW kit on it but was stolen, hence why there is no trim and the doors look like crap. and the reason i want new doors as opposed to getting new skins is because one that would cost more then new doors mostlikely, same deal with taking it to a body shop. it will cost way more to have it fixed.

and someone else mentioned that the trim was different. can you use 89-91 trim on an 88 door?

I'm not sure...

I forget which way it is but..
the bump molding for doors hitting it is wider or thinner depending on the year.. BUT I'm pretty sure either molding will fit in either year, if you want to buy the moldings seperate

not sure about the bottom trim piece

Pillar mounted seatbelt doors will fit on all crx's. Door mounted seatbelt doors fit on pillar mounted seatbelt doors but you have to mod them a bit.
