Taken from Radical West's Feb newsletter..
"Radical West Racing Registers the FIRST Street Legal Radical in the U.S.
This could happen to you.... you're driving down the street in your residential neighborhood or on your local freeway, or even in a restaurant parking lot. Suddenly, you see it. Your jaw drops, you stare, it's nothing like you've ever seen before on the road.... it's a TOTALLY AWESOME RADICAL and it's driving on the STREETS!
We are pleased to announce that we obtained the first registration in the United States (this one was in Nevada) for a Radical to drive on the streets. Since we obtained a license to drive a Radical on the streets, crowds gather in awe every time we take it out into the community. If we can do it - so can you!
The street legal Radical is equipped with lights, hand brake, horn, turn indicators, smooth edges on the wing, and special fasteners, ensuring a pleasant experience out on the road. Regulations vary from state to state with regard to vehicle registration, and we were pleasantly surprised at how quickly and easily we were able to obtain the license through the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles. The Radical will proudly display personalized license plates RAD1 and can now be seen cruising throughout the region.
And the big question: "How does it drive?" "Like a dream," according to John Morris, who keeps it in his garage and cruises down to Newport Beach's Crystal Cove on an occasional Saturday morning to show off the car and to enjoy the camaraderie with fellow exotic sports car drivers. "The Street Version of the Radical is an amazingly smooth ride, with perfect control on the corners and especially on the freeways. I'm going to have to watch myself carefully with this one or I'll be heading to traffic court." As for the crowds that gather wherever he goes in the Radical, John says, "You just get used to it."
For additional information on how you can own your own Street Legal Radical, please contact us TOLL FREE at 1-888-SPEEDRW (773-3379) or send us an email info@radicalwest.com."

Only thing left is to figure out how I can attached a trailer hitch for to tow my race tires and tools
Ryan-Who has lusted over SR3's for years now and this makes me want one even more...

I said nothing about a wife in my post though..
It'd still be fun to drive that on the street once though.. despite it's impracticality.. that and an overwhelming sense of self-preservation taking over in light of all the people who just wouldn't see you in their mirrors/underneath them.. ::squish::

I remember seeing years ago in Road & Track an article on a guy who got a Porsche 917 registered as a street car. The one state he could find to do it? Alabama. Funny seeing a (back then) "Heart of Dixie" plate on a race car on the street(funny the car then went out west). They made the owner cut the back fins off of the body so it would not be a slice-o-matic to pedestrian. Hey man, you want to street race me in the Porsche? What's it got under the hood?
SUV v. Radical oohhhh, scary.

iunno...public roads with potholes, speedbumps, and driveways is a recipe for disaster for that kind of street driven vehicle sitting that low....the ariel (spelling?) atom seems much more practical

Same line of thought as any Ferarri driver except they don't suffer when they drive it around.
I want to buy the track version so badly. Patience.

TUBULAR DUDE!!!!
I'll have one of those, or something similar one day.
I really hope that guy takes it to the track, but from the sound of it he uses it to "cruise in".
If I buy a car like that I'm sure as hell not going to tone it down for the street.

Too late.
It did not help that last weekend, every time I drove Scott's car to the grid, I had to make a left turn at the Radical South trailer. I think that actually hurt.

</TD></TR></TABLE>"That guy" is John Morris, probably the Radical's biggest proponent in the United States. He's also part owner of Spring Mountain Motorsports Park:
http://www.springmountainmotorsports.com/
Morris bought and had imported a bunch of SR3s (and a couple mechanics) for the new Radical school there. He commutes to the track (in Pahrump, NV) via his own private helicopter. I've seen him in a Stohr, various turbo Radicals, etc. Trust me, he's not for want of time spent on track in fast cars.
Having spent some time on track in one, I don't find the Radicals "all that". Fun, sure. Faster than anything else at the same price point, probably. But unless all your friends have similarly prepped ones too, you'll be so much faster than everyone else it'd make friendly track days less interesting...IMHO
