98 integra won't rev past 5k... sometimes
I have experienced this a couple times now when ever i have driven my car hard. I can unhook the battery and then It's o.k. for awhile. It's like a rev limiter set at 5k. I need some info.
check to see if the car has oil in it. sometimes the ecu will do that preventing vtec and also keeping you from blowing the engine
I'll have to check into the distributor idea. I have vafc untuned (recently hooked up) and a skunk 2 intake manifold. The car has been taken care of only has 68,000 miles on it . The only way I can describe it Is It's like The engine is hitting rev limiter at around 5k rpm and losing power..
-no other big mods to car.

I'm curious too, I have the same problem. I checked the MSD and they were all right (ohm meter) I have the same GSR, Milano Red....
You should check your spark plugs too. I checked mine and they were fouled, so I hope this solves the problem. I just have to install my new starter to find out.
wow i got the same problem in my 92 teg b16 swap..
it wont let me go passed 4.5 k.. then again i got a 2 step launch system that l;ets me launch at 4.5k every time
ill check my distributor also.. ****..

If your throwing a revlimiter at 5k....
Wouldnt you be throwing a check engine light?
When the ecm sets a revlimit at 5k thats usually because it reconises a hard fault in the system and knows something is wrong.
I had the same problem when i put my motor back in, but it was due to a misfire.
The source of my misfire was due to a #3 injector not plugged in all the way. the clip had it cocked so it wouldnt go all the way down.
Im very sure The injector isnt the source of your problem, but a misfire is a misfire, wheather its fuel or spark. So check that out.

This is what I found .. The screw that holds the distributor rotor had worked It's way out and the rotor was just wobbling around under the distributor cap area.

Check your wires to ur ecu, on the manual it will tell you that u should connect the blue wire also if ur car has a VTM signal, which it does. That blue wire feeds the dummy signal to ur ECU. After i connected that wire, my redline was normal again. After a while i just took it off completely. hope that helps

Thanks so much man, my bro's crx was doing that when he got to 4k rpms it would sound like it missfired and shut off, i just remember that on the 3rd cylinder injector the clip is gone so it must have came off.

Glad to know my info worked for you. I had that stupid redline thing for like 3 weeks straight! On the freeway i had to shut the ingnition off and on again to reset the signals which would give me like 1 minute of freedom so i could shift into higher rpms before that redline came back again. haha
