I don't think it is either. Rear braces are not legal.

 

Are you showing it off or asking if people recommend it? If the latter, Mitch apparently does real nice quality work but unfortunately that design is currently not legal for NASA (and I believe IT as well but I don't recall the end of that debate and it might be determined by your local tech). If you are going to have him do you a cage for racing w/ HC (I presume since that looks like a honda ??), I would have him do the rear legs such that they are | | to the main hoop, not X (or |X|, |/| too would be fine rules-wise). Just my understanding - if you are just showing off some picture you found - cool. Nice pics!

 

hello know-it-all's, did i ask if the cage was legal? no i didn't. but since u guys know so much... maybe you can answer this, why so many rr/ax ppl like to answer questions that ppl did not ask? maybe they can read into other's minds? predictive answers???

 

You need to switch to high density padding. That open cell stuff is nearly useless.

Ummm, if you did not want feedback on the cage, why did you post pictures of it?

 

Frank, just go away all together or if you want to post pretty pictures then feel free to post in the GDD or the Cosmetic and Appearance forum. If you don't want comments don't post at all...

Frank, if you do not want the constructive criticismn provided by the people in this forum then do not posty something here that you not wish to receive commentary on. You never stated what the car is going to be used for, with what group(s), why the cage was built, and so forth - everyone should be so lucky to receive so many suggestions when posting about safety equipment.

The people have posted with suggestions that are serious safety/legality issues that you may not have thought of and they are trying to be helpful to you. Just because they are making suggestions/commentary on what they see does not mean that they are "haters" or "trolls" as you like to label anyone that has something to say that you find offensive for some reason (and i'm still trying figure out what that is here). If you just want "oh wow, that cage is tizzzzite civic si is t3h r0xx!" then post this **** in the appearance/cosmetic forum.

You are welcome to take yourself and your "holier than thou" attitude elsewhere if you want to keep it up.

i typically don't flame or go nuts on your threads.. but seriously man, if you're going to post pictures people are going to comment.. I was actually impressed it had remained at an intelligent level of discussion of the cage/design itself..

but yeah.. even I, a fairly new person in this sport, have seen lots of nice cages.. and for many different groups/rulesets.. including from piper.. if you think this one is special, at least say why..

besides, I'm sure an argument could even be made against his use of boxes if he's such a great fabricator..
