ok so about an hour ago i got pulled over going 71 in a 55...i didn't know what i was thinking when i said that i had orderd a new gauge cluster to the cop...now my court date is 3/10/05 and i need to have proof that i have a new gauge cluster or present the new ones at the time of my court date to try to get out of my ticket...i love my jdm gauge cluster (after not since the day i got my car) and i would like to keep it but have an insert so i can see mph...any suggestions other than putting post-it notes over my kph?

 

simple pull the jdm cluster and put the udsm cluster in its place"take about 3 minutes to do" and talk to a cop and have them sign off your ticket.

i could try that...i'm not going to leave out any possibilities to get out of it...but the cop said that it doesn't matter i didn't know how fast i was going and he did and i was speeding...and i tried to tell him that i just got it and i'm waiting on a part and he said that it still doesn't matter b/c i didn't have it in there then and i shouldn't be driving it b/c it's not safe...he also said that i'm lucky he doesn't take my car to the impound lot b/c it's not suitable to be driving

 

wait wait..ok so u got pulled over and said that you didnt know ur cluster read kph instead of mph?? thats what im assuming because you have a jdm cluster...wth ..HAHAh did u just say that it came with a japanese cluster and u didnt know all along? i doubt u will get out of that, unless the judge is a complete dumbass. i may be confused though about what you mean in your post.

 

the cop is right,sorry buddy but it is your resposiblity to keep track of your speed.

buy one of those and keep your cluster just make it read mph instead of kmph.

i personally just sorta go w/ the flow of traffic and remember what speed in kmph = what speed in mph

lol i still dont get what having a cluster in kph has to do with you getting out of a speeding ticket. i think your going to have to pay for it :\ . where there other cars around you when u were speeding? i dont know if this would work after u already got the ticket, but i know if there were cars around and you got pulled over you can argue that the officers eyes arent calibrated with the laser gun, hence he cannot 100% say that it was you that was speeding. my physics teacher told me how he fought numerous tickets like that. just a thought.

 

There are electronic speedometer recalibration boxes that will convet you JDM KPH cluster to show you MPH. That's what I have. Mine also has a button to show top speed.

 

ok...i was on a road...and i was driving...i was behind a car and since i didn't know how fast to go, i was just crusing behind him...then i saw the cop...i let off the gas...the cop passed me...did a u turn...turned on his lights and pulled me over...he asked me if i knew how fast i was going and i told him no sir...i don't i just got the car and it has kph and not mph and i'm waiting on a part to change it... and he said well i have you going 71 in a 55...i said ok and then appologized that i didn't know i was going that fast...i was nice to the cop, i mean i didn't get an attitude or anything like that and then he went back to his car...i called my friend who is a cop in his dept. and told him the prob. he told me to tell the cop that we talked about gettign it changed and i had the part ordered and i was a good friend of his... and when the cop came back i told him all that and he said ok... like all of that didn't matter and he said he just wanted me to sign something...and then i looked at the paper (which was my ticket) and just laughed and said okkk signed it and he told me when my court date was and all of this other **** that i needed to know... so do you get it now?

 

if you get it signed homie you dont need to go to court. unlike my self that is going on thursday on a bogus charge.that ******* rookie *** cop is mine.

so how much is the ticket anyway?... if you go to court and talk to the prosecuter, then even though you might not have a chance to prove the cop wrong, or anything of that nature, you can most likely get away with less points or no points and a cut down ticket price $...
