That's the other Jacques, his uncle, back in the early days of Honda Michelin series. JV probably wasnt even born yet or was wearing diapers when that photo was taken.

Edit: just realized the photo was in 78, so the other JV was a kid then, ~7 yrs old...

Yes indeed thats F1 Jacques' uncle. His father Gilles and uncle Jacques raced everything from bikes to snowmobiles in the 70's. Gilles obviously went on to becoming the driver for Ferrari F1. I believe Uncle Jacques also had a stint in proffesional racing.

yeah, the pictures are pretty sweet. i also like the pics in the 86 michelin cup. you can DEFINATELY tell they weren't using swaybars. hehehee

 

looks like the car my dad "won" the Solo 2 nationals in 74'.

Pop quiz guys: What track did both JVs win on during their respective IndyCar stints?

 

Not sure how many people know this but Richard Spenard who is also pictured in those photos started up a racing school about 2 1/2 hours outside Toronto. He ran it similalrly to Russell whereby mechanics worked towards credits to race within their own series. The younger Jacques that we know from F1 was a graduate of this mechanics programme. Richard also happened to be the driving coach for the Players CART team.
