yes, there are quite a few quirks with these cars... it would take too long for me to list them here, so i'll send you somewhere that has them all over the place...

http://www.3geez.com

BTW, i own an 88 DX myself... i love the car, but it's a shame to say it's been a lemon...

how do you swap to EFI? wouldnt you have to change the whole engine? do you know how difficult it would be to swap in a B or a D motor? or even an F22 from a 92+ accord

you have to change the wiring, the manifolds, the fuel tank, heater core, computer, and put in a fuel feed line...

quite a bit of work, really...

since you're starting out carbe, yeah, it's a real bitch... only 2 guys on 3geez have swapped motors into carbed cars... carotman and steve (i don't know his SN)... carotman has a JDM b20, steve has a b16...

the only reason i'm fixing this car is because i scored a fully intact running parts car for $25... the oil pump went out and i'm not worried about the motor... my DX is considerably lighter... even with the swap...

my DX was only $550, at a time when these cars would consistanly get $1500 in slightly better shape... i wanted to unload it when the tranny was dead, and KBB was still $1250 on it, and that was requiring a new transmission

yeah i picked this one up at my wholesale auction for $300 after the auction fee. so is the B series motor swap a direct drop in like it would be with say a 93 civic?

but yeah i think this thing is only like 2100lbs but the output specs are weird 93hp / 143ft/lbs tq. i cant wait to get it on the road tho we just unloaded the $500 payment on the subaru and we drive this now with no payment and bought it for almost hal;f of what one pymn was on the subaru

only the JDM B20 motor, which came in these cars in Japan, and the general export B20 motor that came in these cars... the general export model has 20 HP less... one downfall is 5 speed transmissions are hard to find...

PRI stopped making swap mounts for these cars, but 2 swaps have been successful without PRI mounts...

if you want to swap, you can always go DCOE, then you don't have the problem with the injection swap... still need to change wiring harnesses...
