I want to know how to do a compression check with the motor out?

 

i assuming the same as in the car but u have to turn the crank by hand ?

Yup unless if you could hotwire the starter (not as easy as it sounds).

uhhh, i dont think that you can turn the crank by hand fast enough to build up enough compression. im almost certain you need to hotwire it. someone on here knows what two wires you put together. i read it before on here....

u prob can but it might take like an hour per cylinder. cranking by hand takes hella long

 

You could make compression with your hand. Just sucks because its going to be a very nice long work out. Breaker bar and long pipe would be your best friend.

Compression doesnt leave until you let it leave (AKA take out the compression testor)

No because the impact will knock the crank pully bolt off. lol.

 

you could use a crank pulley holder, the hexagon shape wrench that hold the crank pulley when you take the crank bolt off, that way you don't have to worry about losening the bolt

 

very easy to wire the starter outside of the car!.. Assuming the tranny is bolted on.
all you have to do is ground the motor to the battery. Run a 6 gauge wire to the BIG post on the starter. All you do now is use a small jumper wire to the small male connecter on the stater from the big 6 gauge post. That would be the other small post.. It should be a spade connecter type.

 

its really not that hard to turn the crank with just even a regular half inch socket wrench, i used to do it once a week when my motor used to sit in my garage to keep it lubed up

 

You know your not gonna get an accurate reading, its not even worth it to try. The engine has to be warmed up when you do a compression test, and you can't do that while the engine is out.

Heat your motor with a torch, jk

 

Pointless, don't waste your time.

To do a dry comp test you'll need to have the starter bolted on and hook a battery to the solenoid.

This will still be a waste of time. The engine is cold.
