stock lsd tranny
hello, i have a question regarding the stock type R lsd. my question is, how would i know if it was broken or malfunctioning? also, what could cause these problems? i am asking because i have noticed taking tight corners on balding front tires somtimes results in a slight slide, very stlight, and a rubbery grinding noise for a second if i go too fast, like over 30 around a corner. (a tight corner, not round corners that can be taken at high speeds) the car stays on its tracks i believe, but is not grabbing hard through the turn. should it on worn tires, or is it normal that there is a slight delay/loss of traction?
please, if anyone has any input on the questions i asked, respond!
thanks
forgot to mention i already know how to check it mechanically (spin the front wheel, other wheel spins) my question is moreso performance related, as to say, could a lsd be "partially" working?

LSD only helps, really, when you're taking a corner and applying a lot of throttle at the same time. It stops the inside wheel from spinning out of control, and lets you put down more power to both front wheels instead.
I would look at the tires first. The symptom of no-LSD would rarely be seen on the street even in spirited cornering. You'd have to be near the adhesion limit and floor it at the same time.

i think i get what your saying, Chris. its more than likely that my lsd is fine, but i always wondered what symtoms to look for, sounds, handling issues, etc. everything other than the official "test" of spinning the wheel by hand. plus, that grindy tire noise made me wonder wtf the prob was, its gotta be the tires.
